If in the collective imagination, the PACA region (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) is rather famous for its beautiful beaches bordering the Mediterranean, its territory also conceals superb snowy villages like the Salle-les-Alpes, where young and old can enjoy winter sports. In the heart of the Hautes-Alpes department, this attractive resort nestled in the middle of immaculate mountains is an integral part of the renowned Serre-Chevalier ski area.

Perched at an altitude of 1400 metres, it is a popular playground for athletes thanks to its ideal location, whatever the time of year. In winter, the Salle-les-Alpes offers direct access to some 250 kilometres of Serre-Chevalier slopes. Thus, you will be able to easily benefit from all the recent equipment and numerous activities that the domain makes available to holidaymakers. You will have the leisure to discover (or rediscover!) alpine skiing, mountaineering, off-piste skiing, snow grooming at night, paragliding, sledging, snowmobiling, driving on ice, but also dog sled rides or snowshoeing. 45 kilometres of pistes line the Nordic area of the domain : in all, 16 cross-country skiing loops perched at an altitude of over 2000 metres on the edge of the sumptuous Parc National des Ecrins will delight sports enthusiasts, who will be able to spend themselves in a white and cottony setting.

In summer, mountain bike lovers will find their happiness in this resort : countless trails cross the Col du Galibier, the Col du Lautaret, the Col de Montgenèvre and the Col de l'Echelle. The village is crossed by GR50 (which crosses the valley from side to side), as well as multiple hiking trails, which will allow you to discover the different hamlets that make up the resort of La Salle-les-Alpes. You can thus walk up to the Grand Aréa, summit of the Salle-les-Alpes (2869 meters), and enjoy an exceptional panorama on the valleys and the pastures. During your excursions, you will certainly cross the road of many lakes such as Lac Rond, Lac de l'Oule, Lac de Cristol or the Pontillas lake, in which you can even do a few fathoms, learn to pedal boat or kayak.

A quiet village, conducive to relaxation, the Salle-les-Alpes is home to many wellness areas where amateur athletes will rush down the slopes. Discover the Nordic outdoor baths : in an idyllic setting, you can take a hot bath while eating under the stars ! Ayurvedic massages, sauna, hammam, and yoga classes : everything is done so that you can let go during this stay in the mountains.

In the evening, warm up around a good meal in one of the restaurants of the resort. Don't miss "Le Bivouac" and its semi-gastronomic local cuisine, the "Table du Rock Noir" (located in the 4* hotel of the same name) or "La Manouille" : this traditional restaurant with its warm decor offers a generous and local cuisine. Raclette with three cheeses, fondues, gratins, "medieval gallows of meat" (one of the specialities of this restaurant) or local charcuterie will satisfy the most hungry stomachs.

For more than 10 years we have been used to the place and we always take pleasure in finding the village and its wonderful landscapes, our favourite shops and restaurants. This year disappointed by the crêperie "Le Jardin" which does not respect the distances on the terraces... A pity... We dispensed with it.
