Between the beaches of the Mediterranean and the first foothills of the Cevennes, the village of Cessenon-sur-Orb is located about 20 km northwest of Béziers. Charm, nature and sunshine make it a must for those who dream of a peaceful holiday in the south of France.

Known as one of the oldest cities of the Languedoc, mentioned since prehistoric times, Cessenon-sur-Orb is the place where the ages meet. Clinging to the side of a cliff above one of the loops of the Orb, with its old houses with warmly coloured tile roofs, and its narrow streets full of historical testimonies, this town steeped in history is a real invitation to calm and tranquillity. As you stroll through the heart of the village, you will discover the Porte Louis XIII, the church of Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul, as well as the dungeon of Cessenon-sur-Orb perched 13 metres high. If the eras intermingle, here in the heart of the village, it is still the medieval period that takes precedence thanks to the old fortifications that you can discover along the streets. The town hall, but also the old oil mill, the Sugar Fountain, the Medieval House and the Maison Jacquaire, not forgetting the many chapels that have flourished over the centuries in the village and its hamlets, will complete the inventory of sites not to be missed when visiting Cessenon-sur-Orb.

After a refreshing or gourmet break in one of the town's restaurants and cafés, head for the local star: the Orb! Spread out along the ramparts of Cessenon-sur-Orb, this river of more than 145 kilometers is the delight of holidaymakers passing through the village from the first fine days. What to do? If hikers can enjoy fantastic views from the banks of the river, lovers of whitewater activities can embark on board canoes or kayaks for sporting and fun sessions to discover the Valley of the Orb, thanks to courses suitable for all levels ranging from 5 to 32 kilometers. For excursions between vineyards and scrubland, perfect for a break with family or friends! And if you prefer to relax rather than work your biceps, the Orb is perfect for sunbathing and swimming in the sun! After a detour to the mini-farm-zoo, a visit to the Fontcaude Abbey or a bike ride along the Canal du Midi which crosses Béziers, head for the beaches of the Mediterranean! Located at one hour drive from Cessenon-sur-Orb, the beaches of Valras-Plage will be ideal for naps under the sun... but not only! Surfing, paddle, sailing, towed buoys, but also bodyboarding or sea walks will complete this stay in the Hérault department.
