Like a pearl on the Rance river, Saint-Suliac is a real treasure for those who love authentic Brittany. At 12 kilometers from Saint-Malo, it is the perfect place to put down your bags for a change of scenery in the heart of Brittany.

In the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, Saint-Suliac is THE perfect postcard of Brittany as we dream it. Here, the houses are old, full of charm, built in a neo-Breton or Breton style and decorated with windows with colored shutters. It is not for nothing that the village is listed in the very select list of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France"! Founded in the 6th century by a Breton monk, the village of Saint-Suliac is an old fishing village, as shown by the nets still hanging on the facades of the houses along the Rance. The particularity of Saint-Suliac? Its streets! They are so narrow that they are nicknamed "ruettes", and none other than Victor Hugo referred to them in his book "L'homme qui rit" in 1869! So, we can only recommend you to get lost in the maze of "ruettes" of Saint-Suliac, on the side of the "rue des Berniers", the "Impasse des Châteaux" or the "rue du Puits", ruettes which will lead you untiringly in the direction of its port! Emblematic place of the village, it invites the visitor to a moment of relaxation with a view thanks to its benches, perfect to settle down with a book, and contemplate the small boats moored in the Rance! After this contemplative pause, direction Mont-Garrot for a walk in the heart of a vineyard, with a crazy view on the Rance and the old Viking village below.

Saint-Suliac is without doubt a destination of choice for lovers of history and beautiful stones. Its heritage is rich, marked, and will plunge you in no time in the heart of the traditions of the region. After a short walk in the village, you will not have missed the Dent de Gargantua, a large menhir standing in the heart of a wooded park, or the imposing church of Saint-Suliac with its stained glass windows, a treasure of the local heritage which is worth the detour as much for its exterior architecture as for its decorations. But the emblem of Saint-Suliac is undoubtedly the oratory of Notre-Dame de Grainfollet: erected in 1894 on the eponymous point, the oratory of Notre-Dame de Grainfollet dominates the Rance and the whole village of Saint-Suliac. It is a witness to the history of cod fishermen and is worth a visit for its original architecture and the breathtaking views it offers at sunset! Walking or biking towards Saint-Malo, trips on the Rance river and nautical activities will be the icing on the cake of these Breton vacations.
