Autrans, now part of the new municipality of Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors, is a family ski resort nestled in the heart of the Vercors Regional Natural Park. A preserved village resort adored by sports enthusiasts, Autrans is the French capital of Nordic skiing, which, with its 200 kilometres of slopes, has enough to make many other popular resorts jealous.
Located only 30 kilometres from Grenoble, this mid-mountain village resort perched at an altitude of 1050 metres has managed to preserve the region's typical architecture, with its chalets with lauze roofs and its picturesque and beautifully preserved heritage. Warm and human-sized, this resort attracts beginners and families thanks to its gentle relief and pleasant surroundings. Thanks to its two alpine ski areas with 35 runs and 200 kilometres of Nordic ski slopes, Autrans-Méaudre is also an extremely popular resort for ski lovers, and more specifically for cross-country ski enthusiasts. Surrounded by the peaks of Le Bec d'Orient, Plénouse, La Molière and La Sure, the resort's many downhill ski slopes are ideal for beginners: you can find a total of 3 black, 8 red, 9 blue and 11 green slopes as well as 2 boardercross and an off-piste route.
On the Nordic side, the latter is labelled "Nordic France" thanks to the quality of its numerous infrastructures: you will find 200 kilometres of pistes linked for classic or skating practice, across plains, forests, ridges and hidden valleys. But if there is one track not to be missed, it is the one of the Molière ridges which will offer you wonderful views over the entire Alpine range. In addition to cross-country skiing, you will find 127 kilometres (just that!) of marked snowshoeing routes, as well as an Olympic springboard to learn about ski jumping and numerous ludiparks so that the youngest can discover the pleasures of skiing. Dog sledding, snowkiting, biathlon initiation, 4-season rail sledding, outdoor rink, paragliding and snow sledding complete the list of winter activities that you can enjoy in Autrans during your holidays.
A true paradise for outdoor activities, the Vercors is the ideal place to discover outdoor sports on land, in the water or in the air with family or friends during the summer. Hiking is the ultimate activity on sunny days, whatever your level. On foot, by bike, by mountain bike or by donkey, whether they are sporty, quiet or long-lasting, there will be something for everyone. By mountain bike, there are nearly 380 kilometres of trails of all levels that wind around the Autrans-Méaudre mountain bike site, for nearly 500 kilometres of safe hiking trails. The "Via Vercors" in particular, is a secure route of nearly 9 kilometres that families love to take between Autrans and Méaudre in order to discover the different faces, depending on whether you walk at sunrise or sunset. To enjoy sumptuous views without having to climb the mountains on foot, the chairlifts of Le Gonçon and La Quoi will give you access to very beautiful panoramas on the heights of the resort, so that experienced and contemplative sportsmen can all together admire the beauty of the local flora and fauna. On site, you can rent bicycles, mountain bikes, go-karts, rosalies, "fat bikes", but also gyropods for playful walks, or electric scooters for off-road use, which will allow young and old to discover new sensations without getting tired. If, however, you want to work out while relieving stress in the heart of beautiful landscapes, then we strongly advise you to learn about Nordic walking: ultra trendy, this health and well-being activity is the best way to do your body good while enjoying the magnificent landscapes of Autrans and its valleys. But the list of activities doesn't stop there: caving, beach volleyball, spa, zip line, outdoor whirlpools, skate park, tennis, swimming pool... you won't know where to start!
