At the edge of the Parc National des Écrins, in the heart of Isère, lies the sunny village of Vénosc. Located only 8 minutes from the ski area of Les 2 Alpes via the cable car, this typical mountain village with cobbled alleys is ideal for a family stay. It was attached in 2017 to the commune of Mont-de-Lans to form the "new commune of Deux-Alpes".
Here, you will discover the mountain at your own pace and, whether you like skiing or not, you will necessarily find something to occupy your snowy days. Located at an altitude of 960 metres, the rustic resort contrasts with the large crowded estates, where it is day even in the middle of the night with so many illuminated signs. In Vénosc, the atmosphere is friendly, and one feels a little like home. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to meet the different actors of the life of the village, its carpenters, ceramists, beekeepers, bakers and craftsmen, who make Vénosc such a unique place.
Put on your snowshoes for long walks in the powder, through the mountains and the surrounding alpine pastures. Whether they are sporting or dedicated to discovery, there is no shortage of hiking routes from Vénosc. After a few efforts, the most daring may reach the ice cascade of Les Écrins, located in the Vallon de la Selle (or Devil's Valley) : with your ropes and crampons to try the ascent of this immense frozen cluster, in an absolutely sumptuous setting. In fine weather, the path leading to the glacial lake of La Muzelle is really worth a detour : by following the loop that crosses the passes and combes along the massif, you will reach this turquoise lake nestled in the hollow of the mountains, in a breathtaking setting. If hiking is legion in the area, let yourself be tempted by a donkey ride or segway (a kind of electric skateboard), an original way to discover the mountain that will please the greatest number. Water sports enthusiasts will even have the opportunity to practice several whitewater activities (such as rafting and hydrospeed in particular) in the azure torrents of the Vénon.
Finally, from Vénosc, amateur and experienced skiers will be able to enjoy the 415 hectares of marked pistes in the resort of Les 2 Alpes, situated between 1300 and 3600 metres above sea level. A total of 96 slopes (12 black, 22 red, 45 blue and 17 green) make up this internationally renowned ski area. Special feature of this resort: the higher you climb, the easier the slopes will be. Beginners will be able to indulge in the pleasures of sliding in 100% natural snow, on the largest skiable glacier in Europe perched at 3600 meters. Mountain bikers and thrill seekers will rush towards the Vénosc descent (accessible by cable car) : renowned among experienced mountain bikers, it is one of the most popular in the region because of its difficulty but also because of the sumptuous panoramas it offers. You will also have at hand three secure toboggan runs, a skating rink, an ice cave, quad, yooner, snowmobile and ski-joëring trails, ski and paragliding schools as well as areas dedicated to well-being and relaxation in the open air... All in all, in Vénosc, all the conditions are met for perfect holidays in the mountains.
