On the Atlantic coast, Léon has all the assets to captivate the hearts of holidaymakers looking for a holiday in the great outdoors. Thanks to its splendid lake, Léon is a paradise for nautical pleasures, offering its visitors a whole range of water sports for young and old alike. If a wilder part of the lake is more popular for fishing, you can take advantage of its beaches to bask in the sun, but also opt for an introduction to catamarans, a windsurfing course, a romantic boat trip, a pedal boat or canoe trip, to discover the contours of the lake by arm strength. We also recommend that you embark on small gallops (traditional boats) accompanied by boatmen for an excursion towards the ocean beach of Moliets by the Courant d'Huchet: splendid panoramas in the heart of the dunes, pines and peat bogs! In addition, this lake, classified as a nature reserve, has many green spaces dotted with cycle paths that will allow you to enjoy a nice bucolic walk in the coolness of the fragrant pines, the perfect activity before diving into its fresh water for a few fathoms.

Above all, a small friendly village, Léon is made up of old Basque houses typical of the local landscape, painted white and decorated with half-timbering, sometimes red, sometimes green, emblematic of the regional architecture. Housed in a magnificent setting, this small, welcoming village in the Landes de Gascogne region abounds in intoxicating colours and fragrances. As far as heritage is concerned, there are some interesting sites to see, such as its wash house under the bridge over the canal du Moulin or its 20th century church of Saint-Saturnin. But if there is one unmissable event in Léon, it is its seasonal market. A famous colourful market with stalls full of fruit, vegetables and dried meat, it is held from June to September in the Church and Post Office squares every morning. Full of Landes products to be tasted such as foie gras, chilli pepper-based preparations or duck breasts, it is one of the essential stages of your stay in Léon.

On foot or by bike, or even by boat if you feel like it, it will be easy for you to reach the ocean beaches in a few minutes. Ideal for surfing, lazing around, swimming and romantic dinners with your feet in the sand, the beaches of Moliets, Messanges and Vielle-Saint-Girons will satisfy all your desires. Magnificent by day, they offer a breathtaking spectacle at sunset, when the sky is tinged with bright colours that poetically reflect in the sea... A moment not to be missed, and to be immortalized if you love photography: a cliché that is sure to make people jealous on social networks!
