10 kilometres from the ocean beaches of Contis-les-Bains, Mézos is located in the heart of the Landes forest, in the Pays de Born. Rich in ancient history, this town occupied by Celtic and then Roman tribes is today a green holiday resort, appreciated by holidaymakers for its calm and magnificent landscapes.

A haven of peace nestled in the middle of a thick pine forest of more than 9000 hectares, Mézos is, let it be said, one of the green lungs of the Atlantic. A paradise for outdoor activities, Mézos seduces all year round holidaymakers looking for green holidays, far from the big seaside destinations, sometimes overcrowded when summer comes. Here, the main activity is hiking. Many are the paths which will enable you to discover the village, but also its neighboring communes, for strolls between forests and rivers. The "Curlew Interpretation Trail" is a must to do: running along the river of the same name, this 2 kilometre-long green itinerary will allow you to discover all the wealth of flora and fauna that make up its banks. While walking through the forest, you may come across the road to the Fontaine des Argileyres: dedicated to Sainte-Rose, this fountain in the middle of the pines once attracted many visitors, thanks to the virtues of its sulphurous waters, which are said to have the capacity to cure skin diseases. The town also has a connected path, "from the farmhouse to the factory", which will show you the great transformations of work in the region, and will make you discover superb sites such as the Dino estate, or the Castéja castle. If there is one itinerary that is particularly recommended so as not to miss anything of this attractive village, it is the "PDIPR de Mézos": a little more than 10 kilometres long, this path will lead you to the discovery of all the most beautiful landscapes that make Mézos such a resourcing and preserved destination. During this walk, it is impossible to miss the old church of the village: built with stones from the Landes (the "garluche"), the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste stands out for its high fortified bell tower totally covered with chestnut shingles. During this walk, you will also be able to see the church of Saint-Pierre de Mézos, without forgetting the old, very old traditional Landes houses made of thick white walls and half-timbering, sometimes green, sometimes red.

With your family, if there is one site not to be missed, it is the nautical base of Mézos. Open on the waters of the Curlew, it will allow you to embark in canoe or kayak on the calm waters of the river, for beautiful walks with the force of arms that will allow you to discover the elegance and charm of this green setting. Finally, 10 kilometres away, the ocean beaches are just waiting for you: long, beautiful and largely sunny, the beaches of Contis-les-Bains, Mimizan and Vielle-Saint-Girons will be ideal for your sports sessions as well as for your relaxation sessions. As for water activities, surfing, bodyboarding, paddle, windsurfing, or kitesurfing will complete your sports stay in the Landes.
