In the Landes de Gascogne, the small village of Orx is situated on the edge of a vast pond, the Etang d'Orx, only a dozen kilometres from the ocean beaches of Capbreton and Soorts-Hossegor. A true green lung, a paradise for nature lovers, Orx is a peaceful holiday under a sun always on hand, in the company of a generous flora and a dazzling fauna. To start your stay, nothing better than a short stroll in the village. A rural hamlet, it is made up of four districts: the Marais d'Orx, the Mangas district, the Pey district and the Church district. After taking the time to discover the Robert Dicharry lake (perfect for a fishing trip) and the Saint-Martin d'Orx church which has proudly stood in the heart of the village since the 12th century, put on your trainers and climb on your bike, heading towards the Marais d'Orx, the main attraction of the village which attracts many hikers in a breathtaking setting.

Ah, the Marais d'Orx... Made up of a vast pond perfect for walks in the green, it is one of the pearls of the Landes coast. This protected area was once a former polder, created under Napoleon III, and is now one of the favourite meeting points for bird-watchers. A large protected wetland, classified as a National Nature Reserve and integrated into the Natura 2000 network under the ownership of the Conservatoire du Littoral, it is laid out to allow onlookers to discover all the unspoilt beauty of the pond, and to admire the many birds that come to live there throughout the year, from chickadees to swans, terns, eagles, gulls, snipe, gannets, ducks and other geese. A discovery made easier thanks to an observatory, but also to an interpretation trail, decks and footbridges that offer the opportunity to contemplate bucolic landscapes that you will never tire of!

Far enough away from the star resorts of the coast not to have to suffer the crowds, but close enough to allow you to get there every day by car or bicycle as you wish, Orx is also the ideal place to put down your suitcases if you dream of strolling along the ocean beaches of the Landes coast. Fancy a surfing session? Head for Capbreton or Hossegor! In addition to being teeming with seaside restaurants, these seaside resorts are well known for their dynamism!
