Living at the rhythm of the tides, the village of Saint-Julien-en-Born offers its visitors a privileged setting for rest, between forest and ocean. With its sweet woody scents, its preserved natural spaces and its emblematic waves of the Landes coastline, Saint-Julien-en-Born will delight lovers of green holidays. As for visits, how can we not mention the Lighthouse of Contis? Built under the orders of Napoleon III, this spiral-shaped black and white lighthouse overlooks the sea from its 38 metres high, and offers its visitors (after climbing its 183 steps) incomparable views of the ocean. To visit Saint-Julien-en-Born, the ideal is still to opt for hiking or cycling, to move freely in these scented landscapes of pine, ferns and oaks that make up the Landes panoramas: here, the forest covers more than 80% of the territory of the municipality, and is a wonderful open-air playground for hikers and mountain bike fans alike who will find some forty marked out routes for all levels and all desires. If you enjoy cycling excursions, the 7-kilometre bike path to Contis-Plage is very popular with vacationers, as is the legendary Velodrome that runs along the entire Atlantic coast for over 1200 kilometres. With the family, the Jungle Park is highly recommended, as long as you enjoy thrilling activities: you can play paintball or challenge the perched modules of the adventure course, which offers splendid views of the Landes forest from its Himalayan Bridge and zip line.

What makes Saint-Julien-en-Born so charming, in addition to its forest, are its beaches, located on the seaside resort of Contis-les-Bains (also called Contis-Plage). In all, more than 5 kilometres of fine sandy beaches are available, perfect for bubbling under the sun... don't forget the sunscreen! From La Grande-Plage, you can also enjoy a wide range of activities to suit your taste, each one more refreshing than the next: canoeing or boating down the mouth of the river, surfing, paddle, scuba diving, kitesurfing, longe-côte, sailing, bodyboarding... Finally, Saint-Julien-en-Born is also a cultural break, ideal for discovering all that makes up the Landes heritage. The village is first of all known for its many exhibitions of paintings, photographs and sculptures during the month of July, but also for its good small addresses, ideal for a total immersion in the Landes flavours. What to eat while passing through Saint-Julien-en-Born? Delicious asparagus from the sands, beef from Chalosse, farm duck, kawis from Adour, a generous portion of pastis from Landes (THE local cake par excellence), but also foie gras, Landes salad, duck confit, escaoudoun accompanied by a glass of Armagnac, Tursan or Floc de Gascogne...
