The town of Cheverny is located in the Loir-et-Cher department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. In the heart of the "wine-growing Sologne", in the middle of woods and meadows, Cheverny owes its fame to its castle, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as to its wine, which has been much appreciated by oenologists for centuries now. Cheverny has three buildings listed as historical monuments, such as the Château de Cheverny, the Château de Troussay and the church of Saint-Étienne-de-Cheverny. But the local star is obviously the Château de Cheverny: a flagship attraction on the banks of the Loire, this listed castle built in the 17th century in a classical style served as a model for Hergé's famous Château de Moulinsart, in the Tintin cartoon strip. If its interior is worth the detour for its dining room with wooden panels telling the story of Don Quixote, its stone staircases dating from Louis XIII or its incredible library and the king's room which housed Henri IV, its exterior is also worth the detour. With more than 100 hectares, the park of the castle is a treat for the eyes of lovers of open spaces: with its French garden, its kennel and its exhibitions on the work of Hergé, it is a must to visit during your stay. Not far away, the Château de Troussay is also worth a visit. A real gem, smaller than Cheverny, this 15th century building has Renaissance parts and impresses with the beauty of its decorations.

In addition to these historical visits, you can take a trip to the 18-hole international golf course which will delight greens enthusiasts, but also visit the red, white and rosé AOC vineyards which are the pride of the town. The town is also criss-crossed by numerous walking and cycling routes, which will allow you to discover the vineyards and the natural surroundings of Cheverny.
