On the banks of the Loire, Onzain invites you to escape and discover in an enchanting and beautifully preserved setting. City of Loir-et-Cher, now part of the new municipality of Veuzain-sur-Loire, Onzain is located only a few kilometres from Blois. This haven of peace will undoubtedly win over Loire castle fans, epicureans and hikers.

An old medieval fortress, Onzain is one of those charming little villages for which it is so easy to fall in love. Its city centre is not lacking in tourist attractions: the church of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Potais in particular is worth a look. Built during the 11th century, this building, listed as a Historic Monument, was historically rebuilt in an admirable flamboyant Gothic style, typical of the beautiful achievements of the time in the region.

Hikers, nature lovers and lovers of protected and elegant open spaces? You have come to the right place. Onzain is crossed by many hiking routes for young and old, which will allow you to discover some of its most beautiful faces. The "Circuit des Champs-Marquier" (16 kilometres), but also the "Bois de la Borne-Blanche" (10 kilometres), or the "Circuit de Villiers" (7.5 kilometres) will take you through the Ozaine countryside and along its shores. You will be able to contemplate the disappeared castle of Onzain, of which only the douves remain today, as well as a very beautiful panorama on the neighbouring castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire, located on the other bank of the Loire (visible via the Champs-Larquier circuit). By bike, many hiking trails pass through Onzain, such as "Boucle n°4" (60 kilometres), n°1 (59 kilometres) or "Boucle n°13" in particular, which starts in Onzain to take you for 56 kilometres across the Loire Valley, from Fleuray to Autrèche via Noizay, Limeray and Vernou.

But what makes Onzain's main asset is its strategic location in the heart of the Val de Cisse and the Loire Valley. Also, it will be possible for you to reach some of the most beautiful castles of the Loire Valley in a very short time, during hiking, cycling, horseback riding or motorcycle rides. Chaumont-sur-Loire is the easiest to reach, located just opposite Onzain: you will love its famous English-style gardens, always sunny and its elegant atmosphere. About twenty kilometres further east, Blois, a city of Art and History, will amaze you with the beauty of its castle, elected royal residence for more than a century under King Louis XII. A little further on, the Parc des Mini Châteaux de la Loire, Amboise, Chaumont-sur-Loire, Château Gaillard, Chenonceau, but also Fougère, Gué Péan, the village of Trôo, Troussay, Beauregard, Cheverny (Château de Tintin), Villesavin, Lassay, Chèmery and Chambord complete the list of visits you should not miss during your visit to Onzain.
