Do you want a holiday with a difference, far from the crowds and the hassles of everyday life? Do you want to discover cultural, gourmet and sporting activities in the heart of a region renowned for its major historical assets? Head for the commune of Salviac, in the Lot.

On the border with the Dordogne, Salviac is a proud little town in the Lot, in the Occitanie region. In the land of caves and castles, the town that lives happily just a short distance from the meanders of the Dordogne is located in the heart of the Bouriane natural region, between Sarlat and Cahors. Within a green and particularly well preserved environment, Salviac shines by the great diversity of its panoramas. Here, the walks are bucolic, in the shade of chestnut trees and secular oaks, which provide shade and coolness to walkers during the hot summer days. The architecture is marked, typical of the region, with magnificent rural residences made of local stone, shepherds' huts, and century-old pigeon houses. In terms of heritage, several places are worth a visit, such as the church of Saint-Denis de Luziers, or the 12th century church of Saint-Jacques-la-Majeur, known for its splendid stained glass windows and its magnificent nave. A stopover for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela from Rocamadour (via the GR 652), it is one of the most visited monuments in all of Salviac. After taking the time to discover the imposing Château de Lacoste, stop off at the medieval Garden of Barry: with its medicinal plants, its vegetable patches, its period plants and its brightly coloured flowers, this garden at the foot of the castle is a perfect detour for a green interlude.

The Bouriane region, of which Salviac is a part, is full of splendid villages that you can discover at your leisure during your stay. Whether you are a hiker or a mountain biker, you will find a whole host of walking and cycling routes that will take you to the new Abbey of Léobard on the banks of the Céou, to Gourdon, famous for its church of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges and its Festival of Medieval Festivals, to the bastide of Cazals, to the castle of Montcléra, and also to Payrignac, which is well worth the detour to visit for its famous Cougnac Caves. The magnificent Château de Fénelon in Sainte-Mondane, Rouffillac in Carlux, Veyrignac, Lacoste and Fayrac in Périgord on the banks of the Dordogne will complete the inventory of splendid places to discover during this stay. Sarlat-la-Canéda is also worth a visit: less than 30 kilometres north of Salviac, Sarlat-la-Canéda in Périgord Noir is one of the stars of the Dordogne. Cultural to the core, it is also the perfect place to sit on a terrace and discover the best specialities of the region. On the menu? Truffle omelettes accompanied by Cahors wines, Périgord walnut tarts, Rocamadour, foie gras, Quercy farm lamb, saffron, melons, ceps, chestnuts, sturgeons, Bergerac wines, jams, honeys, beers, strawberries... So many delights that you can also find on the traditional markets of Cazals and Salviac in the summer! You will have understood, enough to delight the taste buds of all the family!
