Just opposite the island of Jersey, on the Côte des Isles, Barneville-Carteret is located on the coast of the department of Manche, in Normandy. And who says Normandy says gastronomy, culture, outdoor sports and breathtaking landscapes... Welcome to Barneville-Carteret!

On the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula, this quiet family seaside resort reveals to its visitors a preserved environment, particularly conducive to escapism and escapades in the open air. A popular destination since the time of "sea bathing", Barneville-Carteret has kept its rich past and its remarkable architecture, with beautiful hotels, plush villas and elegant wooded parks where you can stroll or read a book as you wish. Take the time to take a walk in the heart of the town to discover all its heritage: from the Besnard castle (neo-renaissance style) to the Château des Douits (19th century), via the splendid Graffard manor house listed as a Historic Monument, not forgetting the Saint-Louis de Carteret chapel, it is a whole section of local history that you will discover. On the seaside, one site catches the attention of visitors: the Old Church, located just below Cap de Carteret. Between the thick dunes and the cape, the ruins of this ancient church are a must on your visit. Dedicated to Saint-Germain-le-Scot, who evangelized the Cotentin during the 5th century, it is the only witness of the old village of Barneville-Carteret, today totally covered by sand. During your excursions, thanks to a whole heap of marked paths (such as the GR223), you will also discover the Carteret lighthouse, but also its small cabins painted in white and blue, located along the beach of Barneville, as well as the dunes of Hatainville, the old wash-house of Mère Denis, the port and the beaches of the resort.

The port of Barneville-Carteret is particularly appreciated by boaters. Whether you have a sea legs or not, we can only recommend that you let yourself be tempted by a short sea walk to discover the splendour of the Normandy coastline. With a skipper, aboard an old rigging, during cruises or aboard a small boat (after passing your licence, why not!), we assure you that this maritime escapade will put stars in your eyes! In addition, from the ferry terminal, you can board a shuttle to Jersey or Guernsey for a day or two to visit these flowery islands with their distinctive culture. Finally, on the beaches of the resort, lovers of nautical activities will be delighted. Paddle, sand yacht, speed-sail, sea rowing, dinghy, kayak, windsurfing, kitesurfing, catamaran, sailing and windsurfing will satisfy all your desires of sports gliding. From the beaches of Barneville, La Potinière, Carteret and La Vieille Eglise, a total of 6 kilometres of fine sand will allow you to bubble in the sun, to compete in sand castle contests or to swim, with the blue sea and the magnificent Channel Islands as a backdrop.
