In the south of the Parc Naturel Régional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin, Millières is located in the heart of the Manche department, in the Normandy region. Bounded by the river Ay to the west, and the rivers Sèves and Claids to the west and north of its territory, the commune of Millières is a rural and peaceful destination, nestled a few steps from the Normandy coast and its beaches. Easily accessible, this charming village offers a perfect setting for rest in Normandy. Decorated with the Croix de Guerre 1939-1945, Millières has on its territory a stele erected in memory of the veterans of the 8th American Infantry Division, who had liberated the town of Millières from 26 to 28 July 1944. After having taken the time to discover this monument, walk through the village to discover its beauty. You will not fail to come across the manor house of Champagne, imposing and splendid, whose doorway and portal of the seventeenth century are listed in the inventory of historical monuments. The megalith in the rue du Gros-Caillou, the church of Saint-Etienne with its high bell tower, the chapels of Saint-Roch and Saint-Wilmer-et-Saint-Wandrille, the oratory of Monthéroult and the manor house of l'Épinerie will complete your visit to the civil and religious heritage of the town.

A green destination, Millières is a little Eden for lovers of hiking and mountain biking, who will find a wide range of routes to follow according to their desires! In particular, you can take the old railway line that used to link Cherbourg to Coutances, now converted into a greenway, or head for the Lac des Bruyères! A natural lake located in a former quarry that was exploited until 2005, the Lac des Bruyères reveals to its visitors moors as far as the eye can see on more than 30 hectares, and a 9 hectare lake. Family-oriented above all, this site will allow you to take a leisurely stroll to discover the local flora and fauna, thanks to an interpretation trail perfect for the little ones, and a sports trail around the lake punctuated by panoramic viewpoints on the moors and the lake. As for the fauna, photography and ornithology enthusiasts will be able to observe, depending on the time of year, little egrets, coots or even magnificent kingfishers, and hundreds of dragonflies.

Finally in the area, the Abbey Sainte-Trinité de Lessay located a few steps from Millières is worth the detour, as well as the Beach of Pirou at about fifteen minutes drive: high place shellfish, known for its old castle, Pirou is the perfect place to enjoy meals on the seaside, idleness on the sand, and swimming breaks under the sun ...
