Gravel beaches, cliffs and steep paths, Omonville-la-Rogue is the Normandy of those who love nature. Green, teeming, tirelessly inviting you to discover and share, this small town in the Manche region is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful treasures of this little corner of France. Built on siliceous volcanic rock, Omonville-la-Rogue has developed in particular thanks to the exploitation of its quarries. Far from the big seaside resorts, in the Cotentin region, on the La Hague peninsula, the village is known for the beauty of its heritage consisting of magnificent sandstone and granite houses with shale stone roofs. Here, through winding lanes wetted by La Vallace, the Épine d'Hue stream and its tributaries, intermingle in a charming mix of medieval and contemporary times. The old manor house of the village is one of its most beautiful buildings, which you can discover while strolling in the heart of the village. Its Gothic church Saint-Jean-Baptiste is worth a visit, as is the Belle-Garde farm-manor house. Climb on the heights of the village to discover one of its strongholds located on an ancient Roman road: the Manoir du Tourp. It remains absolutely magnificent, adored by locals, visitors and onlookers alike, and has inspired many artists such as Roman Polanski, who shot Tess, one of his most famous films there.

The heart of the village? It is obviously its port. Used since Roman times, the port of Omonville-la-Rogue is today the very soul of the village, its beating heart, and one of the favourite places for holidaymakers passing through its walls. Today it is a quiet little marina, home to a few fishing boats and is an absolutely perfect place for your strolls in the rising sun along the Vallace and the stone dike that runs alongside the port. For a breathtaking view of the port, we can only recommend that you take the Customs Trail which runs behind the old fort of Omonville-la-Rogue. In addition to enjoying the superb views, you can also push your visit a little further in the direction of Goury and La Hague. From the Pointe d'Étimbert to the bay of Fontenelles, via the Havre de Barfouis and its small islands (on the GR223), you will be dazzled by the magnificence of the panoramas of Omonville-la-Rogue. Finally, you will be able to swim there, opt for scuba diving courses, and go sailing, in a real postcard setting that you won't soon forget!
