Between the Damgan and Rhuys peninsulas, Ambon, an ancient paludal city, offers its visitors an ideal holiday destination for stays to discover the wonders of the Breton coast. Located at the entrance of the Rhuys peninsula in Morbihan, the seaside resort of Ambon was once well known to the Bretons for its port of Pénerf, considered the fourth largest port in Brittany. Today, the municipality proudly displays the heritage of its maritime past as well as its rich architectural and gastronomic heritage. Start your visit to Ambon with a stroll along its streets dotted with beautiful Breton residences; you won't want to miss the church of Saint-Cyr-et-Saint-Julitte. Dating from the 10th century, this church has recently revealed during archaeological excavations objects and buildings dating from the 3rd and 4th centuries, including a Roman temple and an early Christian sanctuary. You can visit it to admire its splendid stained glass windows, its Romanesque nave and its 17th century altarpiece. Other religious buildings can be visited in the town, such as the Notre-Dame de Bon Secours chapel and its ossarium. Located on a hill overlooking the old salt marshes of the city, it offers very nice views of the surroundings of Ambon. These salt marshes are just like the woods, meadows and coastline of Ambonne, wonderful playgrounds for hiking enthusiasts who can find many itineraries for the whole family. The 14-kilometre "Chapel Tour" and the 16 kilometre "Killig Ar Mor Tour" will allow you to discover in the most beautiful way the major sites of Ambon, from its lands to its village, without forgetting its coastline.

With its varied and multifaceted coastline, Ambon offers its visitors characterful beaches, perfect for both idleness and water sports. Easily accessible from a cycle path from the centre of the village, they are particularly attractive to families who come in large numbers to set down their parasols on these long, rather calm beaches. The largest beach in the resort is Betahon: facing Pointe de Pen Lan, this wild beach integrated into the Gulf of Morbihan Natural Park is certainly the most beautiful in Ambon. Spread over several hundred metres, it offers a perfect setting for holidaymakers looking for small corners of nature far from the hustle and bustle of the large Morbihan seaside resorts. In its extension, Cromenac'h beach takes place in the heart of Kervoyal Bay. Unsupervised, this beach is best known for fishing on foot: young and old alike can fish for oysters, clams, meadows and mussels. Finally, the beach of Trehervé will seduce you for its tranquility and its openness to the sea, as well as for its shimmering sunsets.
