A small rural village nestled in the heart of Morbihan, Guern's origins go back far, far away, to the Bronze Age. Marked by the Celts, the Romans and then the Norman invasions, Guern is rich in an ancient and fascinating history, which will not fail to delight history lovers. Close to Pontivy, about sixty kilometers from Vannes, this picturesque village has more than one asset up its sleeve. Former property of the Viscounty of Rohan, largely turned to the cultivation of rye and buckwheat, Guern tells its history through its old stones. Its architectural heritage is marked, and there is no doubt that you will appreciate discovering its most beautiful jewels. What to see? The Basilica Notre-Dame-de-Quelven of the XVth century, high place of pilgrimage, which is worth the detour for its flamboyant gothic style architecture! Its fountain, its illustrations, and its interior decorations make it one of the most visited sites of the village. The 15th century church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul and its canopied porch, the 16th century chapels of Saint-Jean, Saint-Méldoc de Locmeltro, the chapels of Guermeur, Saint-Salomon, Saint-Gille and Boderel complete the inventory of the village's religious heritage. While walking in the village, you will not be able to miss the columns of Locmeltro: of Gallo-Roman origin, these monoliths located in the enclosure of the Saint-Meldéoc chapel are among the oldest treasures of Guern! Still in the village, old houses are legion, as well as the numerous manors (like the one of Menorval), which translate with their solid and picturesque appearance the agricultural past of the village. Impossible to miss the Devil's House near Locmeltro! We leave you a little mystery as to its history, which you will have the opportunity to discover during your stay...

In the hollow of its green valleys and its thick woods, this land of escape is a true Eden for those who love nature and green vacations. On foot, on horseback or by bike if you feel like it, you will discover the streams, the valley of the Sarre, the old stone houses, and the unique beauty of this soothing nature which makes the unique charm of the village of Guern. Also, in order to allow you to visit the village and its surroundings in all tranquility, Guern has several hiking routes such as the Circuit de Kalong and the routes of Kerjanic and Quelven, which will lead you through the Breton countryside! You can also opt for bike rides along the Blavet river in the direction of Pontivy, go to the lake of Guerlédan for beautiful kayak excursions, or push your visit in the direction of the beaches of Plouhinec (45 minutes away) for beautiful farniente breaks by the sea... The cherry on the kouign-amann of these Breton vacations!
