If there is one emblematic destination in Brittany, it is certainly Le Faouët. In the heart of Morbihan, between nature, culture and legends, this village has many cards in hand to make you succumb to its charms.

About forty kilometres from Lorient, and 40 minutes drive from the splendid beaches of Guidel and Clohars-Carnoët, Le Faouët is one of those destinations that cannot be forgotten. In the department of Morbihan of which it is the pride, this village located a few steps from the border with Finistère and Côtes-d'Armor is a real gem, a jewel of history that invites the visitor to an enchanted interlude, where time seems to have stopped. If there is one thing that stands out when arriving in the village of Le Faouët, it is undoubtedly its architectural heritage. Located on a hill perched at an altitude of 152 meters, the village has a charming downtown area, in the center of which sits its famous 16th-century market. Used for the weekly market and fairs, painted by many artists who love architecture and are impressed by their structure, they are a must for anyone visiting Le Faouët. In Le Faouët, there are many religious buildings that you can visit, starting with the magnificent Saint-Fiacre chapel: considered one of the most beautiful marvels of Gothic art from the years 1450-1480, this chapel impresses by its imposing volumes, and by its very elegant architecture that highlights its vaults and its bell tower with two turrets. The Saint-Sébastien chapel, the Saint-Jean de Jérusalem chapel, but also the Saint-Adrien chapel hidden in the vegetation near the village of Lambélléguic, or the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church are to be added to your list of visits. But if there is one that is inseparable from any visit to Le Faouët, it is undoubtedly the chapel of Sainte-Barbe: star of the village clinging to the side of the cliff overlooking the valley of Ellé, this vast sanctuary built from July 1489 is a real treasure in the heart of the vegetation. Impressive thanks to its magnificent baroque fittings, this flamboyant gothic style chapel, with its gargoyles and quality stained glass windows, offers magnificent views of the surrounding vegetation from its impressive bridges, landscapes that change with the seasons and will undoubtedly delight painters and photographers.

A small paradise of nature, where the green of the beech trees and the gold of the gorse intermingle to offer marvellous panoramas to contemplate, Le Faouët is crossed by multiple hiking trails, starting with the routes of the Chemins de Compostelle (Locquirec or Moguériec route). Many are also the paths that criss-cross the banks of the 3 rivers that wet the village that are the Ellé (trout and salmon river), the Aer and the Inam, and which will offer walkers, riders and cyclists beautiful walks in the heart of protected wilderness. The "Circuit des Chapelles" (12 kilometres), those of Saint-Jean (5 kilometres), of Saint-Sébastien (12 kilometres), and many others will allow you to discover all the splendour of this village full of history.
