Seaside resort on the Opal Coast, the last one in France before arriving in Belgium, Bray-Dunes is the perfect destination for family holidays. Long clear sandy beaches, hiking trails and splendid landscapes make it a must for holidaymakers who love to take a break in the great outdoors.

The charming seaside resort of Bray-Dunes is located in the Nord department, in the Hauts-de-France region. Above all dynamic, this coastal town at the extreme limit of Belgium knows how to win over families thanks to its numerous facilities. On sunny days, the amusement park "Plopsaland", 6 kilometres from the centre of the town, is worth a visit: attracting more than a million visitors every year, this theme park and its aquatic area called "Plopsaqua" has something to win over young and old alike. Russian mountains, scenic routes, pirate ships, pedal boats, carousels, suspension bridges, thrill rides, slide races, giant buoys, swimming pools and theme pools will amaze the whole family. Back in Bray-Dunes, it is impossible not to visit the Dune Marchand nature reserve: to the east of Dunkirk, this protected reserve is home to a wide variety of flowers and other boreal and endemic plants, as well as a massive fauna. Also, during your strolls, you may have the opportunity to come across (thanks to the many developed walking trails) nightingales, green woodpeckers, toads, northern finches, as well as seals and marine calves during the breeding season.

But the major asset of Bray-Dunes is its coastline. Sculpted by the wind and the whims of the sea, the seaside resort of Bray-Dunes is a real little paradise for lovers of hiking and green outings, since it is bordered by a thick dune massif, which lends itself marvellously to hiking, horse riding or cycling excursions according to your desires. The "Circuit de la Dune du Perroquet" is a must to do: this route, 5 to 6 kilometres long, will allow you to discover the old station of Bray-Dunes, but also the dunes and the blockhouses that line the beaches. In all, 10 kilometres of fine sandy beaches will be at your disposal to allow you to practise a wide range of nautical activities. You can choose from sand yachting, kitesurfing, long-distance sailing, sailing and many other water sports to make the most of this beautiful corner of the North. You can also swim, eat waffles and pancakes on the dike, and dine with your feet in the water on delicious local specialties such as potjevleesch, Flemish carbonnade or mussels and chips, a must for a seaside holiday!
