Winter and summer alike, the mountains are attracting more and more holidaymakers. For unforgettable stays far from the crowd of upscale resorts, in the heart of sunny valleys where gastronomy and outdoor sports are king: Laruns direction, at 675 meters of altitude!

On the border with Spain, in the department of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Laruns has everything it takes to be a perfect little mountain village. Traditional and particularly well served by its generous nature, it offers a dream setting for holidaymakers who love green breaks. In winter, when Laruns and the Ossau Valley are covered with their thick white coats, they become a paradise for snow sports enthusiasts. Two ski resorts are located near the village: Ponts de Camps-Fabrèges and Artouste. It is the latter that is the most appreciated in the sector. A true Eden for lovers of new glides, it seduces many riders, whether they are experienced or beginners. On the alpine side, the resort offers 25 kilometres of beautiful slopes spread over three sectors between 1400 and 2100 metres above sea level, with breathtaking views of the Pic du Midi d'Ossau. Kid park, freeride areas, toboggan run, snowpark with sports modules, snowcross, snowshoe or cross-country ski runs, natural ski areas... There is something for every taste and every desire in this resort.

If there is a tourist attraction to succumb to during your holiday in Laruns, it is certainly the Train d'Artouste. Known as one of the most beautiful walks in the Ossau Valley, it offers unforgettable views of the Pyrenees National Park and its most beautiful peaks over a 10 km long mountainside. Perched at an altitude of 2000 metres, it is the highest tourist train in Europe. It will take you in a few minutes to the magnificent Lac d'Artouste, a turquoise lake of absolutely splendid glacial origin coiled in the hollow of the mountains well known by walkers for its many hiking routes. A highlight of your holiday in Laruns, the hike will allow you to discover all the most beautiful faces of the village and its surroundings: GR 108, GR 10, GR 78, "Tour de la Vallée d'Ossau", loops of the National Park, discovery trails... Multiple are the routes that criss-cross Laruns and its valleys !

In addition to hiking, the village of Laruns is particularly suited to outdoor activities: climbing (ascent of the Ossau), via ferrata and via corda, mountain biking with 18 loops, horse riding on the Plateau du Bénou, caving at the Grotte des Eaux-Haudes, rafting, airboat, kayaking or miniraft in the waters of Laruns, canyoning in Béost, fishing at Lac de Castet... In short, what appeals to athletes!

The other advantage of Laruns is its charm? Its hot springs. During the 19th century, under the influence of Napoleon III and his wife the empress Eugénie, Laruns became the stronghold of thermal baths in the Pyrenees. Men and women of letters and other celebrities flocked there at the time to enjoy the benefits of the spa's waters. Nowadays, every year, it welcomes hundreds of people taking the waters in summer, who come to benefit from care for respiratory diseases, fibromyalgia and rheumatism. Whirlpool baths, clay massages, massages with essential oils, sauna, hammam, jet shower, sophrology, plantar reflexology... Everything is done to encourage relaxation.

Finally, how can you stay in Laruns without mentioning its gourmet cuisine?
