Between sea and mountains, Alénya, a small town in the Pyrénées-Orientales, promises its visitors a holiday of discovery and change of scenery. Lovée in the heart of the Roussillon plain, 10 minutes from Perpignan and 50 kilometers from Spain, Alénya is conducive to rest and calm. Surrounded by market gardens, vineyards and apricot fields, it is only 3 kilometres from the fine sandy beaches of the magnificent seaside resort of Saint-Cyprien, allowing water sports enthusiasts and refreshing diving enthusiasts to make the most of their holidays.

Cultivating her Catalan lifestyle, Alénya combines tradition and modernity. Its small narrow streets, its high stone houses, its Sainte Eulalie church and its picturesque town hall make it a city where life is good. Worshipped by wine lovers, the Caves Ecoiffier (located near the garden of the same name) are one of the most visited sites in the commune : testifying to its wine-growing past, they have since been refurbished to house a theatre hall, a music school, tennis courts and exhibition halls. About ten kilometres from Alénya is the Mas Larrieu Nature Reserve : stretching over 145 hectares on either side of the river Le Tech, this nature reserve made of fine sand beaches, dunes, reedbeds as well as fresh and salt water bodies serves as a refuge for many animal species (hedgehogs, buzzards, weasels, herons, gulls, lizards, toads...). Through the marshes, paths and coastal paths, this walk will allow you to discover the immense richness of the local fauna and flora. Ideal for families, the "El Cami de la Mar" hiking trail links Alénya to Saint-Cyprien for nearly 7 kilometres. On foot or by bike, you will walk along the bed of the Agouille de la Mar through orchards, vineyards and meadows where peacefully graze donkeys and horses, to finish your excursion feet in the Mediterranean which borders the beaches of Saint-Cyprien.

When it comes to water sports, Le Tech is perfect for white water sports, from canoeing to kayaking, rafting and canyoning. Those who prefer activities at sea will head to the beaches of Saint-Cyprien to enjoy the many activities on the coast : catamaran trips, boat hire to sail in the Saint-Cyprien lagoon or even to Spain, water skiing, wakeboard, towed buoys, surfing, sailing, kitesurfing, scuba diving... You will not know where to start. Finally if you are adept of idleness and long parentheses of relaxation and tanning under the sun, know that Saint-Cyprien counts 6 immense beaches of fine sand : although very often taken by assault of the holidaymakers, they remain pleasant as much for the quiet moments as for the afternoons of family games.
