Situated on a large skiable area of Savoie, the quiet resort of Montchavin is one of the favorite destinations of holidaymakers looking for calm and serenity. This small village of the French Alps reconciles to perfection winter sports and relaxation. In the 60's, as it gradually emptied its inhabitants and fell into ruins, the old hamlet was revived by the mayor's ambitious project to make it a tourist destination. Construction of new structures near the slopes, renovation of the center Village... Montchavin knows a true makeover and officially opens its doors as a station in 1972.

Since then, this Savoyard resort on a human scale is part of the highly rated domain of La Plagne. Between 1,250 and 1,450 meters above sea level, 133 slopes of all levels allow you to discover the magnificent landscapes of the surrounding mountains. The assets of the Montchavin slopes are recognized worldwide. This remarkable station welcomed in 1995 the first Telemark World Cup, a discipline adapting Nordic skiing techniques to downhill skiing. At the beginning of 2016, Montchavin again receives the international competition on its exceptional tracks, proof of the quality of the snowfall of these.

In Montchavin, there are plenty of activities. Summer and winter, impossible to get bored in this vibrant resort ! Become great detectives in a treasure hunt across the village. Savoie is also well known for its tasty gastronomy where cheeses produced locally are legions. Le Beaufort is a cheese made with raw milk, which is served as a tray or as a fondue. Abondance, named after a valley and a local cow breed, the Emmental of Savoie and its creamy paste, the Raclette, cheese that was already enjoyed in the Middle Ages... Which case to choose to taste all these delights ?... you will not be disappointed by the restaurant "La Ferme de César" (in Bellentre). This old farm converted into a restaurant will serve you hearty Savoyard dishes as well as homemade pizzas and burgers, all at the foot of the chairlifts in a convivial atmosphere and a traditional setting.
