In the department of Tarn-et-Garonne, in the Occitanie region, the village of Bruniquel is located on the border between Quercy and Rouergue, at the very end of the Aveyron Gorges. Classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", this medieval jewel, as if clinging to its colossal rocky outcrop in the midst of an abundance of nature, is an ancient stronghold that has preserved many admirably preserved testimonies of its past. The two local stars are its castles. Dominating with their massive silhouettes the historic heart of this medieval city, these two castles perched at an altitude of 90 metres on the cliffside were built between the 12th and 13th centuries, and the last one, the Château Jeune, was built in the 15th century. This magnificent site is worth a visit for its buildings, their decorations, terraced gardens and the incomparable views they offer of the village and the gorges below. Rich in a very ancient history, Bruniquel is a village full of charm, full of old houses built along the sloping streets. Made of stone or wood, half-timbered or corbelled, with turrets, arched doors, flowered, geminated or mullioned windows, these houses full of character will give you the impression of having stepped back in time! Pass by the rue Droite de la Peyre, the street going up to the Belfry, the Porte Méjane on the old ramparts, the rue du Barri-d'Albi, the rue Bombe-Cul and many others, cobbled streets adorned with climbing roses and lilacs which for the most part will give you beautiful views of the surrounding vegetation. During your picturesque wanderings, you will not be able to miss the House of the Iron Rings, the House of Parliament, the Belaygue House or the Forges of Caussanus.

Bruniquel is a land of escape and has been inhabited for centuries. The prehistoric camp of Bruniquel is a must for families, thanks to its educational workshops and exhibitions, as well as the Bruniquel cave and the Mayrière decorated cave. Hikers, lovers of outdoor activities? The Véloroute des Gorges de l'Aveyron, 86 kilometres long, will take you to some of the most beautiful villages in the area, such as Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, Montricoux, Penne and Montauban. The Château de Bioule is worth a visit, as is the Château de Cas in Espinas, the Cité du Cap de Caussage, the Abbaye de Beaulieu in Ginals or the Petit Paris in Vaïssac, and the wonderful fortress of Penne. Finally, mountain biking, climbing, speleology, canoeing or kayaking down the Aveyron, not forgetting swimming and fishing are all activities that you can enjoy during your stay in Bruniquel.
