If for you, holidays go hand in hand with fresh air, culture and green leisure, then it is resolutely in Saint-Projet that you must pack your bags.

Just next to the Parc Naturel Régional des Grands Causses du Quercy, Saint-Projet is located in the heart of an environment conducive to escape, only a few steps from Aveyron. A small town in the Tarn-et-Garonne, it is located on the banks of the Bonnette River, at an ideal crossroads to discover the most beautiful destinations in the Occitanie region. First advice for this holiday: you need a car... Or a bike, as long as you are a lover of long walks and a regular at long distances. There are many things to see around Saint-Projet, you will quickly realize it! Villefranche-de-Rouergue, first of all, is a must: located just 25 minutes from Saint-Projet, it is home to many historic sites to see. Place Notre-Dame, the collegiate church of the same name, the magnificent Baroque chapel of the Black Penitents, the monastery of the Carthusian monastery and the Calvary of Saint-Jean d'Aigremont are particularly recommended. Najac and its medieval fortress, in the same area, are also worth a visit for the splendour of the fortified castle that dominates the whole of Aveyron. 30 minutes from Saint-Projet, Cabrerets and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie are also worth visiting: the first commune houses the Grotte du Pech Merle, while the second is very popular for its medieval village, voted "Plus Beau Village de France". Cahors (40 minutes away), Montauban, Cordes-sur-Ciel and its breathtaking panoramas (50 minutes away), but also Gramat (1h10) and Rocamadour (1h30) are among the most beautiful sites to visit in Saint-Projet.

Finally, please note that the town of Saint-Projet is not lacking in interest or cultural riches to discover. If there is one building that is emblematic of the locality, it is certainly its castle: built during the 13th century on a Gallo-Roman mound, this fortress is above all known for the illustrious people who slept within its walls, such as Marguerite de Valois, better known as "Reine Margot". Following her visit, her room was walled up, and it was not until 1990 that it was rediscovered, with its precious period furniture inside. Very well preserved, this castle is really worth a visit (count 5€ per person from June to October, same price for night visits)! During your walks along the flowered streets of Saint-Projet, you can also discover its rich heritage: in all, the commune has 12 former bread ovens, 3 ponds, 12 wells, 8 fountains and 14 washhouses, most of which are built around its watercourse.
