A dream setting in the heart of the Vaucluse, a crazy authenticity and a setting conducive to escape: this is what awaits you if it is in Crillon-le-Brave that you put your bags. A village of Provence as we like them, located 15 kilometers north-east of Carpentras, it is an absolutely perfect place for those who dream of tranquility in the middle of an abundant nature.

The village of Crillon-le-Brave is a pretty secret hideaway in the foothills of the Ventoux, between the Luberon and the Dentelles de Montmirail. Here, the narrow streets are welcoming, made of old stones with warm tones, and the atmosphere suggests sweet moments in the light of an always generous sun. Perched at an altitude of 363 metres, facing the famous Mont Ventoux, this authentic village boasts magnificent restored Provençal houses made of small local stones, covered with brick-coloured tile roofs, adorned with pastel shutters and poetically decorated with flowers and climbing plants. With its beautiful staircases, its generous vegetation and its cellars where you can enjoy a glass or two of Côtes du Ventoux wine from the local production, Crillon-le-Brave is the sweetness of life incarnate. A former fortified village, it still retains some of the remains of its defences, which you can discover during your leisurely strolls. What to see? The remains of its ramparts and its majestic 16th century gates. The most grandiose is without doubt the Porte Guérin, which opens onto a welcoming square where a 2.5-metre-high bronze statue of Captain Crillon the Brave, who gave his name to the village, is enthroned. From tree-lined squares to esplanades with views, you will undoubtedly cross the path of the Saint-Romain church, the Mechanical Music Museum, the Notre-Dame-des-Accès chapel recognisable by its bell tower, or the old medieval castle, now a private property. Although it cannot be visited, it can still be seen from the outside and is worth a look for its crenellated facades.

In Crillon-le-Brave, it is difficult not to want to indulge in idleness. Everything here makes you want to take your time! Moreover, cafés and restaurants with terraces will not fail to delight the most gourmands during a short break with a view of the wooded hills, the mountains, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Mont Ventoux. These sites are particularly appreciated by hiking enthusiasts, who can discover them thanks to a whole range of signposted networks, perfect for walking and cycling as you wish. The nearby towns of Carpentras and Vaison-la-Romaine, as well as places like the emblematic Abbey of Notre-Dame-de-Sénanque, the Château du Barroux, the Château de Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Avignon (38 kilometres away) and the Mont Serein ski resort on the Ventoux will complete your stay.
