In the heart of the Vaucluse, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Monieux is one of those places that you hope will keep its preserved beauty forever. In the heart of an absolutely breathtaking nature, where fragrant lavender meets spelt fields and the limestone valleys of the Vaucluse plateau, Monieux is a real pearl. And this pearl, it is above all the lovers of nature and fresh air that it delights, thanks to its strategic location at the entrance of the Gorges de la Nesque; a place all the more favourable with the exits in the green! Both peaceful and wild, the site of the Gorges de la Nesque can be discovered thanks to several hiking trails, including the GR9, as well as a number of itineraries along the meanders of its peaceful river, which gains in temperament once the gorges are passed. You will discover this grandiose canyon, but also the 12th century Saint-Michel chapel, an ancient troglodyte hermitage accessible after a good walk. Note also that mountain bikers can also explore the gorges by bike, thanks to the hiking sessions organised in the summer. On sunny days, if there is a place adored by visitors, it is the lake of Monieux! With its refreshment bar, this fishing pond is the perfect place to refresh yourself, but also for a picnic, and to discover a whole range of activities such as speleology, hiking, zip-lining or even naturalist outings and paragliding, on the occasion of a festival organized every year in June.

But Monieux is also a charming village. Perched at an altitude of 650 metres, Monieux attracts nature lovers, but also those who love architecture and history. A medieval village, dominated by the remains of one of its 12th century watchtowers, it unfurls along its old cobbled streets incredible old houses, sometimes dating back to before the Middle Ages, but also workshops and art galleries, as well as a museum adored by visitors, the Musée de la Truffe du Ventoux, which honours the famous "black diamond" that can be tasted at all the good tables of the region. In addition to the lavender and lavandin that dot the valleys surrounding Monieux with their blue and fragrant flowers, the town is known for its production of spelt, goat's cheese, mushrooms, truffles and Provencal honey, all of which are flavours and aromas that are honoured in the town's restaurants. On the terrace or not, take the time to savour these delicate delicacies, which will not fail to give this stay a little taste of "return" absolutely fantastic!
