In particular, explore the Route des Crêtes, the Lakes Valley and climb to the top of the Grand Ballon. Then go to Remiremont to admire its fabulous abbey district, to Gérardmer for the beauty of its lake, to Domrémy-la-Pucelle to visit Joan of Arc's birthplace. Also visit the ancient copper mines of the Dukes of Lorraine near Le Thillot and attend a performance in the famous Théâtre du Peuple in Bussang. Finally, fall under the spell of Mirecourt, famous for its lace and lutherie.

With its vast preserved spaces, the Vosges also invites you to practice many outdoor activities. The walkers will be able to start on 4000 kilometres of marked out paths and the amateurs of bicycle will enjoy themselves on "the green way" of Hautes Vosges. For swimming and other water sports, head for the Saulxures sur Moselotte Lake leisure base. In winter, join the slopes of the Bresse resorts or treat yourself to a wellness break in one of the four spa towns in the department.
