In the heart of the Corsican Regional Natural Park, Casanova-di-Venaco, also known as Casanova, is a small village perched on a cliffside at an altitude of over 540 metres. From the top of its promontory, it dominates the canton of Corte, the plateaus of Haute-Corse and neighbouring Corsica-du-Sud. An essential accessory for your holidays in Casanova? Good walking shoes! Because it is above all for hiking that you come to settle down in this small authentic village. There are many sites to visit, so you will find a wide choice of itineraries through its hills and surroundings. The heritage trails will allow you to discover the old houses, fountains, shaded plots and different panoramas of this traditional village. From Casanova to Venaco and Corte, passing by Poggio di Venaco (and its llama breeding) and Riventosa, let yourself be surprised by the many springs of water that flow from the slopes of these green mountains: washhouses, fountains, streams and lakes are legion in the region, for the delight of walkers. The Fornu di a Riventosa (an old oven) and the Mulinu di Masgiolu (a mill that used to make chestnut flour) are two beautiful elements of Corsican tradition to be seen on these excursions. Gourmands? Depending on the season, you will find delicious snacks on these trails: nuts, plums, apples, chestnuts... Flowers of local gastronomy! Some ideas of places to visit? In winter, skiers and snowboarders will gladly head for the Ghisoni ski resort, about 60 kilometres south of Casanova. Spread out between 1586 and 1870 metres above sea level, it has two red, two green and one blue runs. With its good snow cover and splendid panoramas, it attracts more family audiences.

In summer, you will be only 45 minutes from the sea by staying in Casanova. The city of Aléria, capital of Corsica, seems the perfect place for beautiful breaks under the island sun. Its three ponds and beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean coast will be perfect for relaxing moments.
