In the center of Italy, on the western coast, the region of Lazio is a land of history, legends and culture. Rome, the eternal city, deserves several days of visit, but Region abounds with other amazing places, to discover absolutely !

Often referred to as the region of Rome, Lazio can not be evoked without thinking about the splendor of its capital. It must be said that few cities possess so much wealth as the city founded by Romulus. To appreciate it at its true value, plan a stay of a few days. You can then discover its Roman monuments (the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Forum, the Baths of Caracalla...), its Renaissance buildings (Capitol Square, Palazzo Venezia, Palazzo Farnese, Villa Medici...) and its Many museums (Borghese Gallery, Capitoline Museums, MAXXI...). But also take the doors of the Vatican City to admire one of the most beautiful architectural and artistic ensembles in the world.

Historic area, Lazio also has a beautiful natural environment. On its shoreline, the great sandy beaches of Ostia attract the Roman youth in fine weather. Further south, Gaeta, perched on a peninsula, and Sperlonga, the medieval, are among the most beautiful resorts on the coast. If you prefer fresh water, Lazio is also renowned for the beauty of its lakes. In the north of the region, at the foot of the beautiful town of Montefiascone, discover the lake of Bolsena. Covering an ancient crater, it offers an ideal setting for walking, swimming and boat trips. Smaller, Lake Vico, near Capranica, is no less charming with its natural reserve of beech, chestnut and oak trees.

Continue your discovery of Lazio by joining Tivoli. This spa town, with its rich past, is renowned for the beauty of its Este and Hadrian villas, both of which are listed as Unesco World Heritage Sites. To the west of Rome, you can also visit the wonderful Etruscan sites of Cerveteri and Tarquinia and the National Archaeological Museum in the magnificent Palazzo Vitelleschi. During your escapades, do not forget to taste the flavors of the local gastronomy : gnocchis, spaghetti all'Amatriciana, rigatoni alla pajata, saltimbocca to the roman...
