About fifty kilometres from Santiago de Compostela, in the autonomous community of Galicia, the seaside resort of Porto do Son enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the Spanish coast.

To the west of the Sierra de Barbanza, overlooking the Ria de Muros y Noia, Porto do Son stretches 23 kilometres along the blue waters along the Galician coast, and includes several municipalities such as Porto do Son, Portosin, Xuno, Barona, Minorto and Noal. A few sites scattered here and there in the town are worth a visit, such as the Moulin de Noal, the San-Vincente de Noal church, the "Capilla de A Atalaia" recognizable by its green door, or the many petroglyphs (drawings engraved in stone) that dot the surrounding mountains, which you can easily find when walking along the seafront on the Tario, Barona or Goians sides. In Barona, it is impossible to miss the ruins of the old Celtic residence called "Castro": located facing the sea, this Castro is one of the emblematic sites on the coast of Porto do Son. Offering incomparable views of the sea and the cliffs by the sea, this superb site still requires you to wear good sneakers to reach it. If the path leading to the Castro is rather sporty, we guarantee that it is well worth it!

The main attraction of Porto do Son? Its beaches, undoubtedly. Lined with tall pines and fragrant eucalyptus trees, these white sandy beaches are the ideal place to lay down your towel for a relaxing break. Popular but not overcrowded, they will offer you a quiet bubble away from the hustle and bustle of the big star resorts of the Iberian Peninsula. Queiruga beach not far from Castro de Barona is absolutely magnificent, as is the very wild "Zone Longa" or Aguiera beach, very popular with walkers for its dunes and surfers for its waves. Ornanda beach is one of the most popular beaches in Porto do Son: located close to homes and shops, it is certainly the most popular in summer, especially for families who come to enjoy its infrastructure and its proximity to the city centre.

Finally, when passing through Porto do Son, it is impossible to miss the legendary city of Santiago de Compostela! But what can we see in this historic city made famous by the religious pilgrimage? Piazza do Obradoiro and its famous Cathedral from 1075, the historic centre and its arcaded streets, the Monastery of San Martino Pinario, the Hotel of the Catholic Kings, the Convent of San Francisco, Monte do Gozo, Plaza de la Quintana or the Mercado de Abastos in Santiago, one of the most famous markets in Spain. Take advantage of your visit to this market to discover the delights of Galician cuisine: Polbo a Feira (Galician octopus), empanadas, caldo gallego (a delicious soup), pimientos de Padron, lacon con Grelos, or torta de Santiago (an emblematic dessert made from ground almonds, sugar and flavoured with cinnamon or lemon) will delight epicurean travellers.
