Porto Cristo is an authentic small fishing port, but it does not quite correspond to the idea we have of it. Modern, dynamic and yet far from the usual crowds of Balearic seaside resorts, Porto Cristo is a real little corner of paradise. Spared by mass tourism, the village has managed over the years to preserve its most beautiful treasures: its beaches. The downtown beach just next to the port is one of the most popular: 200 metres long and dotted with numerous parasols and deckchairs, it is bordered by a pleasant pedestrian walkway dotted with terraces of cafés and restaurants. Ideal for family swimming breaks, it is just as ideal if you want to go out to sea to discover the east coast of Mallorca. Cala Anguila is one of the most secret coves in Porto Cristo: surrounded by dense vegetation, this cove of fine sand offers beautiful views of the open sea and allows you to bubble under the sun in the shade of small straw parasols. The neighbouring Cala Mendia is one of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast of Mallorca: a renowned surf spot, it welcomes surfers all year round (yes yes, even in winter!) in a splendid setting in the hollow of the rocks and the green pine forest. Finally, Cala Romantica will amaze you with its white sand and beautiful surroundings: turquoise water, cliffs, sunshine... It has many assets to seduce holidaymakers! As for water sports, Porto Cristo will satisfy all your desires! A ferry trip with a transparent bottom to observe the beauty of the seabed, sailing, pedal boat, surfing, paddle, jet ski, towed buoys, there will be plenty for the whole family.
Porto Cristo's other asset? His caves! The del Drach caves (dragon caves) are the most popular among holidaymakers: these prehistoric caves of natural origin will plunge you into the heart of Porto Cristo's history. The White Grotto, the Black Grotto, the French Grotto and the Luis Salvador Grotto were dug by the sea, and nowadays constitute the largest underground site in the Balearic Islands. In the heart of this magical place, you will not be able to miss the magnificent Lake Martel, renowned as one of the largest underground lakes in the world, where you can take a boat trip to a concert of classical music. A little further on, the Del Hams caves ("caves of the hook") are also to be seen: if the Round Cave is splendid, do not miss the breathtaking Blue Cave, amazing thanks to its immense stalactites and its illuminations.
