Ah, the old white villages of the Spanish hinterland... In the province of Málaga, the village of Alhaurin el Grande has been inviting people to come and discover its most beautiful faces. Authentic and sunny, this beautiful corner of Andalusia is ideally located to enjoy the most beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol, without having to suffer the crowds.

What makes visitors passing through Alhaurin el Grande succumb to its charm. Its palpable charm, which owes its success to its magnificent architecture, typical of Andalusian constructions. With its superb whitewashed houses and sunshine always present, this postcard village multiplies the assets to make hearts capsize. There is nothing better than a short stroll to capture the pulse of this small town full of character. During your visit of the village, leave your car aside to prefer walking, which is much more pleasant under this magnificent sun. From Plaza Naja to Plaza Alta, via Plaza de la Legion and Plaza Manzanares, the authenticity of this small town will be revealed before your eyes. Take the time to stroll through the old part of the village, dotted with tall white houses in front of which are huge flowerbeds, each one more colourful and vibrant than the next. You will also see the Convent Caves, the Bread Museum and the remains of the old Arab wall, the Arco del Cobertizo, which belonged to the defensive walls that once surrounded the town. It is impossible not to pass by the old hermitage of La Vera Cruz: in neo-Gothic style, this rather astonishing building impresses visitors with its exterior architecture. Built during the 20th century, it is a must to see during your visit, as is the famous Paca Mill: an essential part of local history, this site, which is over a century old, will show you all the tricks of the trade in traditional oil production.

Set on a hill in the Sierra de Mijas, in the heart of abundant orchards, Alhaurin el Grande is also known for its absolutely splendid views of the surrounding nature. After taking time to relax in the Parque de la Libertad, the Lagartijo Park or the Jorobado Park, head towards the Mirador Huerto Mateo. From this viewpoint, a breathtaking panorama of the Guadalhorce valley and its green fields awaits you.

20 minutes: that's how long it will take you to reach the most beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol from Alhaurin el Grande. No more, no less. Indeed, the other asset of Alhaurin el Grande, besides its charm, is its location. In no time at all, you can find your feet in the sand and your head in the water of La Cala de Mijas or Fuengirola! Nautical activities such as paddling, sailing, surfing, jet-skiing, swimming of course, but also wakeboarding, parasailing, sea trips to meet dolphins and whales, water skiing and kitesurfing will complete your stay in Andalusia.
