Elected the most beautiful Andalusian village, Frigiliana bears the sweet nickname of "Light of Andalusia". Located in the south of Spain in the province of Malaga, not far from the Natural Park of Sierras, Frigiliana unrolls its charms to who knows how to appreciate them and invites to escape the time of a sunny stay.

The white village of Frigiliana is a must for anyone who wants to discover the most beautiful pearls of Andalusia. With its cobbled and winding streets, its covered passages, its numerous staircases and its whitewashed houses so characteristic of the villages of the Costa del Sol, Frigiliana is one of those places that cause in an instant an enormous crush. Stroll through the old town and especially through the "Barribarto", the historical centre of the municipality. You can observe the oriental influence on this part of the city, where the streets are dotted with superb glazed ceramic mosaics and beautiful colored doors that contrast with the white of the houses. The streets of the town are dotted with monuments and museums such as the white dressed church of San Antonio, the main religious building in Frigiliana, or the Ecce Homo hermitage, a must during the Christian festivities celebrated in Frigiliana. The Archaeological Museum of Frigiliana is also worth a visit: renowned for its many collectibles including a Moorish dagger, Venetian pots and a Neolithic skull found in the vicinity of the village, it is one of the most beautiful museums in the region. Frigiliana is a resolutely cultural destination marked by the seal of history and a land of celebrations. If you spend your holidays in this white village at the end of August, you won't be able to miss the Festival of Three Cultures: for three days, the commune lives to the rhythm of dances, music, songs and tastings of local dishes inspired by Christian, Sephardic and Arab cultures that have left their mark on the streets of Frigiliana over the centuries. As you wander through the treasures of this unique city, you may see the ruins of Lizar Castle, an ancient 9th century Arab castle, in the upper part of the village. The Palace of the Counts of Frigiliana is also one of the monuments not to be missed during your visit : called "La Raffinerie", this ancient 16th century Renaissance palace is today a traditional cane sugar honey factory, unique in Europe.

Worshipped by nature and hiking lovers, the municipality of Frigiliana offers a splendid setting for beginners and advanced walkers who can go on excursions to the Natural Park of Las Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. Behind Frigiliana is the El Fuerte hill : accessible by a hiking trail from the village, it is the perfect place to observe all the magnificence of the village and its surroundings. Once at the top of the hill, you will be able to enjoy a unique panorama perched at 963 meters of altitude : do not forget your camera to immortalize the view on the coast, marvellous at sunrise in particular.

Finally, a holiday in the sun means swimming in the sea ! Ideally located, the village of Frigiliana is only a few minutes from the most beautiful beaches of the seaside resort of Nerja : the "Playa Carabeillo" in the shade of cliffs and lush vegetation, will be perfect for lazy breaks when the "Calahonda beach", a real paradise bordered by turquoise water, will delight lovers of scuba diving, sailing and jet-skiing.
