San Pedro de Alcantara, 16 kilometres from Marbella, is a must for anyone dreaming of a sunny holiday in Spain. The turquoise sea, the numerous tourist facilities and the dynamism make it a must for festive holidays with family or friends.

The seaside resort of San Pedro de Alcantara is located in Andalusia, on the Costa del Sol. In the past, it was a quiet village populated by workers on the sugar cane and cotton plantations, but today it is one of the most important tourist centres on the Costa del Sol. Just imagine: 5 kilometres of fine sandy beaches, warm water for swimming, golf courses and restaurants on every corner to discover the delights of the local gastronomy... It's a dream come true!

Let's talk about the beaches. They are definitely the major asset of San Pedro de Alcantara. Stretching south of the town from Puerto Banus to the immense beach of Guadalmina, they are mostly made of dark volcanic sand, and are caressed by gentle waves perfect for swimming as well as for practicing nautical activities such as wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing or even paddling. The central beach of San Pedro de Alcantara has been awarded the Blue Flag for more than 20 years and is known for its small eucalyptus trees, but also for its wide promenade planted with huge palm trees and numerous chiringuitos where you can relax after a long day in the sun. On the food side, in these chiringuitos, in the restaurants of the seaside resort or in its tapas bars, you will be able to discover the "berzas malaguenas" (a soup), the "bienmesabe" (dessert), the "borrachuelos" (a wine-based delicacy), but also the "gachas", migas", cold tomato soups, fried fish (pescaito frito), sardine kebabs, almond cakes, and many other delicacies based on fish, ham and wine, among others, that have made the Costa del Sol famous.

But San Pedro de Alcantara also has a rich history and culture, which will certainly lead to many excursions during your stay. What to see? The ruins of the early Christian basilica of San Pedro de Alcantara (from the 6th century), the magnificent mosaics of the Villa Romana de Rio Verde, the thermal baths of La Boeda (the first spas on the Costa del Sol), but also the historic centre where the coloured houses contrast wonderfully with the church (located in the Plaza de la Iglesia) painted in white and yellow. Between gourmet food, cultural discoveries and swimming or lazing around under the Spanish sun, it's a safe bet that your holidays in San Pedro de Alcantara will be memorable!
