Puerto de la Cruz, the flagship destination of the Canary Islands, is the smallest municipality on the island of Tenerife. Smaller, of course, but not without interest! Very appreciated by holidaymakers for its hilly landscapes, splendid coastline and pleasant climate, it will delight travellers seeking to escape under the Spanish sun.

A secular destination rich in a strong historical capital, Puerto de la Cruz will arouse the curiosity of lovers of beautiful heritage, both built and natural. Before rushing to its beaches, take the time to visit its main tourist sites. Plaza Charco and its statue of the Virgin Mary is worth a look, but it is also worth visiting for its friendly atmosphere and its many bars and other restaurants that tourists love to visit. Then continue your discovery of Puerto de la Cruz by passing through the medieval castle of San Felipe, the orchid garden of Sitio Litre, the Botanical Garden gathering thousands of plant species from all over the world, the ancient lime kilns, the Taoro Park and its views of the city, the El Guanche banana plantation, the House of Miranda, the Casa de la Real, the Casa Iriarte or the Abaco House (now the Architecture Museum). As for religious buildings, Puerto de la Cruz has some very remarkable ones, such as the Nuestra Senora de la Pena de Francia church, which is particularly noteworthy for its rich interior decorations. But if there is one visit you should absolutely visit, it is the Torreon Ventoso Tower: a current example of the city's ancient defensive structures, this perfectly preserved tower offers from its four balconies an unparalleled view of the island and the Puerto de la Cruz coast.

Then stroll through the cobbled streets of the old fishing port district, dotted with beautiful, colourful and palm-lined houses typical of the Canary Islands. The latter, particularly pleasant, is the perfect place for walks with incomparable views of the sea to the sound of the lapping water on the hulls of the moored boats. Then, head for the beaches of the seaside resort for a walk with your feet in the water! The Playa Jardin is one of the most popular in Puerto de la Cruz: made of volcanic sand, it impresses by the contrast of its colours. Bordered by a splendid tropical garden made of palm trees and pink flowers, this black sand beach has a crazy charm! As everywhere in the Canary Islands, here the sea opens its arms to you to allow you to practice a wide range of water sports. From windsurfing to bodyboarding, surfing, diving, kitesurfing and paragliding above the sea (from the Teide), thrill aficionados will be served! Playa Bollullo, Playa San Marcos, Playa Martinez and the beach near Plaza del Charco are worth a visit. Much appreciated by tourists, the beaches of Puerto de la Cruz have welcomed many stars, from Mickael Jackson to the Beatles, without forgetting (in another register) André Breton or Agatha Christie. Hiking enthusiasts can count on a large number of signposted routes through the city, the mountains of the Parque National del Teide and its eponymous volcano.
