In the heart of Provence Verte, Sainte-Anastasie-sur-Issole is one of those pearls of which Provence has the secret. A paradise of nature, escape and greenery, it is the ideal place for a peaceful stay, far from the traditional tourist routes.

The village of Sainte-Anastasie-sur-Issole is located a few steps from Brignoles, in the Var department, in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Built on a hillside on the banks of the Issole, this charming little village has all the features of those Provencal towns that we love so much. Here, time seems to have stood still to offer the visitor a perfect postcard of the region, where streams, fountains, bridges, massive doors and warmly coloured stones complete the decor. When you arrive in the village, take the Rue Notre-Dame which will lead you along the narrow and tangled streets to discover the built heritage of Sainte-Anastasie-sur-Issole. Here, the houses are typical of the local landscape, high, made of stone and adorned with colored shutters, narrow windows, and are tightly packed together as if to protect themselves from the vagaries of the weather and the mistral wind that sometimes blows strongly in the region. You will also discover the imposing Genoese residences which testify to a prosperous past, inherited from the cultivation of the vine, olive trees, beans and the breeding of sheep. Also, take the time to stroll along these charming streets to finally discover the Saint-Just square where an old clock and the church dedicated to the eponymous patron saint welcome the visitor. The old wash houses, the fountains, the Renaissance gate, the gate of the parish church, the "aires" where cereals were threshed, but also the bridges give Sainte-Anastasie-sur-Issole a very special charm. The Place de la Gare is also worth a visit: you can take the "Carnoules-Brignoles" tourist train which will allow you to discover some of the most beautiful landscapes of Sainte-Anastasie-sur-Issole and its neighbourhood! Also, still on the side of built heritage, the Old Bridge in back of donkey is worth the detour, as well as the New Bridge made of an imposing stone vault. Both have one thing in common: they span the Issole, the river that meanders through the village and gives it its name, and which is a perfect walking route if you want to take a break in the countryside.

After a break in the shade of the imposing plane trees, a lunch on the terrace and a game of pétanque, hiking enthusiasts can follow a myriad of marked routes such as the GR9 and many others, which will allow them to discover the unique beauty of the Mediterranean landscape dotted with holm oaks, olive groves, and vineyards that offer incredible panoramas of the mountains and the sea in the distance. Our advice? Climb the surrounding hills, such as the Saint-Quinis bar and the Thèmes hill, to discover wonderful views over the valley. Tennis, fishing, horse riding, sea walks, swimming and relaxing on the beaches of Hyères (40 kilometres away) will complete your stay in Sainte-Anastasie-sur-Issole.
