It is in the Allier, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, that the small town of Arfeuilles is located. On the border of the Loire, a small village halfway between Roanne and Vichy, Arfeuilles is known to visitors for its many underground passages, Neolithic refuges reputed to have delivered stones that were used to make scrapers and other stone axes. Named La Girardière, La Croix-Favier, La Merle, Le Crou, Toquin, le Roc des Plants, La Molle, les Girards, they attract many curious people every year and are the source of many legends. If some of them date back to the Middle Ages, these caves were as a whole occupied from the Neolithic to the 18th century, becoming over the years THE site to see during a stay in Arfeuilles.

Also take time to take a walk in the heart of the village to enjoy its calm and discover its charming architecture. During your walks, you will not fail to see the church of Saint-Germain, from the 19th century. Of neo-gothic style, it houses a 12th century stoup, as well as beautiful decorations. The Calvary and the statue of the Madonna complete the catalogue of sites to visit in Arfeuilles, on the town side.

On the last foothills of the Madeleine Mountains, Arfeuilles is one of those destinations far, far away from the main tourist routes, which fascinate the visitors; thus, thanks to its calm and its setting particularly conducive to escape, it is the perfect place for resourcing breaks. On the edge of the Barbenan valley, the commune has several peaks that you can discover during hikes, perched up to 750 metres high, and offering from their highest points magnificent panoramas of the green valleys below. Thanks to 4 downhill slopes (green, blue and red), as well as 21 kilometres of skating and alternative slopes in the heart of spruce and beech trees, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, sledging and snowshoeing will punctuate your stay when the mountains of the resort are covered with their thick white coat. Finally, during the summer, the resort will be transformed into a huge open-air playground for all outdoor sports lovers. Tubby, mountain board, go-kart descents, all-terrain scooter, zip line and mountain bike will complete your stay in Arfeuilles and its surroundings.
