Cradle of the Bourbons since 950, Bourbon-l'Archambault is one of those destinations that we would like to be able to preserve forever. A historical and cultural destination, this star spa in the heart of the bocage has many surprises in store for its visitors.

Cradle of the Kings of France, nestled in the heart of the Bourbonnais bocage, the medieval town of Bourbon-l'Archambault proudly displays its title of "Petite Cité de Caractère", which is well deserved. A sort of "town in the countryside", Bourbon-l'Archambault never ceases to charm visitors, thanks to the astonishing beauty of its heritage, as if frozen in time. First of all, when you arrive, it is its buildings that you notice: its castle, its ramparts, its ancient remains and its old houses give it an unbeatable charm. Walking through its streets, it is as if the visitor was strolling through the pages of a history book, so much the royal dynasty of the Bourbons marked of its seal the village. Also, you can not miss the fortress of Bourbon-l'Archambault: considered as one of the most imposing vestiges of the feudal era in Bourbonnais, this medieval castle clinging to a rocky promontory can be seen from almost anywhere in the village, thanks to its high defensive towers, originally 15 in number but of which only the north towers and the tower "Qui Qu'en Grogne" remain today. Our advice? Take the time to lose yourself in the town to discover the ramparts and the 15th century houses that adorn the Sainte-Chapelle district, the canons' house at the entrance to the fortress, not forgetting the Burgundian Romanesque church of Saint-Georges. You can also dare to push open the door of the famous casino in Bourbon-l'Archambault which, although renovated, still retains a medieval style of its own and gives the place a very special charm.

If more than 80 kilometers of marked routes will allow hikers and other mountain bikers to discover the city and its surroundings, from the first beautiful days, you can also enjoy tennis courts, a summer swimming pool, archery sessions, skateboarding, petanque, fishing, treasure hunts, but also swimming at the Vieure lake, about twenty kilometers away.
