In the department of Allier, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, it is a perfect place for those who dream of a stay far from the crowd. In the green, in the heart of the countryside, between lakes and gentle valleys planted with dense forests, Cérilly is the ideal place to put down your bags for a break in harmony with nature.

In the heart of the Bourbonnais bocage, close to the magnificent Tronçais forest, considered by some to be the most beautiful oak forest in Europe, Cérilly is one of those pearls whose authenticity one would like to preserve forever. Forty kilometres north-east of Montluçon, Cérilly is a town that brilliantly combines picturesqueness and dynamism, in a green setting to die for. Its unspoilt nature is what attracts holidaymakers all year round who are curious to taste its unique authenticity. In terms of built heritage, several places are worth mentioning, such as the church of Saint-Martin built between the 12th and 13th centuries: with its splendid three-storey Gothic bell tower, this church, which is listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments, also reveals beautiful parts from the early Romanesque period. The Dubois chapel from the 16th century, or the Château de la Pierre will complete your discovery of the local buildings. But note that the Charles-Louis-Philippe Museum is also worth a visit: created in tribute to the famous poet and novelist in the heart of his birthplace, it will allow you to discover his history and his work.

But without question, the local star in Cérilly is its forest. On the territory of the town, one sixth of the state forest of Tronçais regale nature lovers with splendid trees, partly classified as a biological reserve. Mostly made up of oak trees, this majestic forest is the perfect place for a walk or cycle ride, depending on your wishes. You can even opt for fun excursions on horseback or in a cani-kart! This vast forest is home to an imposing fauna and flora, as well as 5 ponds, and a large number of springs and fountains surrounded by legends. To allow you to discover the splendour of Cérilly, on the forest side as well as on the town side, you will find many signposted routes, perfect for family walks. The "Circuit du Label" in the heart of the oak grove, the "Sentier des Merrandiers" between forest and bocage which will allow you to discover the Fontaine de la Goutte d'Argent, or the "Circuit du rond de Thiolais" (still in the forest) are all itineraries that will give you a good overview of the heritage of Cérilly and the Pays de Tronçais. The magnificent Château de Hérisson, 16 kilometres away, the Château de Bourbon-l'Archambault, the Pirot lake or the Saint-Bonnet lake, perfect for swimming, water sports or mini-golf, will complete your visit to the Cérilly region.
