Explore Pra Loup 1600
The Southern Alps make more than one dream. It is indeed the ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. Pra-Loup, a tourist resort in the commune of Uvernet-Fours, has been appreciated for over a thousand years as a natural site of great beauty. The Ligurian shepherds came from far away to take advantage of the fresh grass to feed their herds, the monks built numerous buildings and the pastoral activity contributed greatly to the development of the site. Today, Pra-Loup is above all an active resort in all seasons.
The idea of setting up a winter sports resort in Pra-Loup came from doctor and philanthropist Pierre Grouès. As early as the 1960s, Pra-Loup opened its doors to ski lovers who discovered magnificent slopes. The station is divided between two altitudes : Pra-Loup 1500 and Pra-Loup 1600. Today, the Pra-Loup site has been considerably enriched in order to offer a wide choice to its visitors. Indeed, 100 kilometers of marked trails as well as a snowpark for the amateurs of new glide, it is not negligible... And it does not stop there! Pra-Loup is now part of the Espace Lumière, a large ski area linking it to the Foux d'Allos resort. The Espace includes nearly 180 kilometres of slopes, two snowparks, three toboggan runs... In short, it's a paradise for snow sports fans !
In Pra-Loup 1600, cosy chalets and peaceful residences follow one another in the heart of a resort combining modernity and tranquility. Centre of the ski area, its commercial gallery allows you to enjoy many après-ski activities. Shopping, restaurants, relaxation... this is one of Pra-Loup 1600's great interests: everything is nearby !
During the summer, Pra-Loup remains a very active resort. Sport or nature, why choose ? The dynamic activities take place mainly outdoors in the Southern Alps. Indeed, the commune is located at the gates of the Mercantour National Park. This immense natural jewel shares its border with its Italian neighbour, the Parco Naturale Alpi Marittime. It is known for its wild fauna and flora : nearly 2000 plant species, 150 bird species and 58 mammal species shelter these mysterious places. It is also in this park that the wolf returned to France in the 1990s from Italian territory. The dream for nature lovers !
As for sports, let yourself be tempted by a myriad of activities: tennis, mountain biking, golf, cycling, climbing... There is something for all tastes and all levels ! Great beginners or confirmed sportsmen can come to try themselves with all these disciplines through training courses and lessons given by qualified instructors. Don't miss the white water sports that make good use of the mountain and its natural resources. Rafting and white water swimming in the Ubaye, river known for its splendid rapids, canyoning in the gorges... Thrills guaranteed !
