About ten kilometers from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Eygalières is located on the edge of the Alpilles, of which it is reputed to be one of the most beautiful villages. A quiet destination, wide open on vast fields of olive trees, vineyards and green valleys, Eygalières is definitely worthy of the most beautiful postcards of Provence. Perched between 12 and 300 meters above sea level in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region, this charming village is a real gem for those who dream of green tourism, thanks to a whole host of hiking itineraries that will allow you to explore both the village and its surroundings. As far as monuments are concerned, we invite you not to miss the beautiful Saint-Sixte chapel, and to discover the superb Saint-Laurent church, built in a neo-Roman style. In the area around the church, the houses with sculpted doors set the tone of the visit, as do the solid houses built from the limestone of the Alpilles. The 1672 Clock Tower, built with the stones of an old castle, is the very symbol of the village's independence! Today you can still discover an ancient keep from the 13th century, and the chapel of the Penitents which emerges from the ruins of the ancient castle. Our advice? Climb to the side of the statue of the Virgin Mary located at the top of the rocky outcrop that dominates the village. With its tower surmounted by a bell in its campanile, it offers an unobstructed view of the village and its green valleys, but also of the Caume mountain, the Durance and the Alpilles!

For hiking fans, we can only recommend to take the path of La Balade which runs along the chapel of the Penitents, and which also offers incredible panoramas to contemplate! You can also go for a bike ride on the D42 that crosses the village of Eygalières in the direction of Aureille, a path that will allow you to enjoy splendid views with the cicadas in the background.

Tasting of Coteaux-des-Baux-de-Provence AOC wines, olive oil from local productions, walks on the GR6, shopping at the market, exhibitions during the summer, or a visit to the Oppidum des Caisses de Jean-Jean 15 kilometers away, the Lagon Bleu, Cavaillon and Châteaurenard will finally complete this stay under the sun.
