In the Natural Reserve of the Marshes of Vigueirat, in the heart of the Camargue, Le Sambuc is a small village attached to the commune of Arles. In the Bouches-du-Rhône region, shaped by marshes, ponds and streams, Le Sambuc is located south of Arles, nestled in the hollow of wetlands between the Vaccarès pond and the wide banks of the Rhône. Situated on the inland part of the Camargue delta, the hamlet of Le Sambuc is a peaceful place where travellers in search of unspoilt landscapes, sculpted by water and wind, can marvel. To discover everything about this small hamlet, nothing better than a little walk or a bike ride according to your desires. Articulated mainly around two streets, the commune is made up of beautiful and large residences built during the 19th century, absolutely typical of Provence with their roofs in a hundred shades of orange. The village is also famous for being home to some of the most beautiful mas in the whole Camargue, such as the mas de la tour du Cazeau, or the mas de Peint. During your excursions to the Sambuc, you will certainly come across the road to the church of the Nativity of the Virgin of the Sambuc, built during the 17th century, or the town's bullring. Inaugurated in the summer of 2014, these modern arenas host numerous sporting events throughout the year. Here, as everywhere in the Camargue, the bullfighting tradition is strong, and you may be lucky enough to attend a show of Camargue races and other bullfighting shows, particularly famous in this beautiful corner of the department.

City of traditions you will have understood it, it is thus quite naturally that Le Sambuc specialized in the culture of the organic rice of Camargue and the breeding of bulls, being equipped to be made over the years of many manades, which you will be able to visit during your holidays. Here, hikers and nature lovers will have a lot of fun: along the marshes, the ponds of Palunette, the wild boars, La Fangouze, around the pond of Monro or Vaccarès, you will find all the richness of the local flora and fauna. Don't forget your camera, to immortalize the singularity of these panoramas which, at dawn and at sunset, offer marvellous postcards of this emblematic piece of Camargue.

But staying at Le Sambuc is also an opportunity to discover the fascinating and highly cultural Arles, Miramas, Salon-de-Provence, Aigues-Mortes, Martigues and Le Grau-du-Roi. A holiday at Le Sambuc would not be perfect without a refreshing and sporty stopover along the Mediterranean coast: the beach of Beauduc in the commune of Arles, well isolated and renowned for its kitesurfing spots, will be perfect for water sports activities. Finally, the long family beaches of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer will allow you to eat good local dishes with your feet in the water (such as gardiane de baureau, fougasse, brasucade of mussels and many others...) and to bubble under the sun in complete tranquility, for beautiful swimming and family games under the Camargue sun.
