On its world-famous coastline, irrevocably marked by the seal of the Second World War, Arromanches-les-Bains is one of the towns that made the history of this war, and the history of France. Arromanches-les-Bains is located in the heart of the D-Day beaches of June 1944. Located in the Calvados department, this small renowned seaside resort is about ten kilometres north-east of Bayeux, close to the Parc Naturel Régional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin. A small town with barely 480 inhabitants year round, Arromanches owes its fame largely to the remains of its Mulberry port. An artificial, prefabricated port, built during the Second World War to enable the Allies to be supplied during the D-Day landings, it arouses the curiosity of the whole world. Arromanches has preserved many pontoons from this period and from this port, which can be seen today in several places in the region and in particular in the seaside resort of Arromanches, near the Neptune hold, behind the museum.

A seaside town, Arromanches developed thanks to the rise of the railway; this resulted in the construction of numerous seaside villas, scattered all over the town and along the seafront, plush and elegant dwellings which give Arromanches-les-Bains a tremendous charm. To discover them, take the time to stroll along the sea wall which links the two cliffs of the bay of Arromanches. Our advice? Take the little train (free of charge) which will allow you to climb the cliff, and which will lead you to the circular cinema "Arromanches 360°", a cinema which will show you a film retracing the history of the Battle of Normandy. Outside, from the cliff, you can discover a breathtaking panorama of the town and the sea!

Finally, Arromanches-les-Bains is above all a seaside destination. On the sea side, you can discover the tricks of the trade of boating, swimming, scuba diving or even sea fishing! You can also enjoy a mini-golf, tennis courts, pony rides, walks along the coast, paddle sessions or carousel rides...
