Here, in Saint-Georges-de-Montclard, one has the impression that time has stood still to freeze forever the picturesque character of its old stones. The calm of an authentic village, full of ochre-coloured stone houses with brown roofs. First monument to see: the Manoir de la Beaureille. Dating from the 11th century, it is worth a visit for its worked facades and its beautifully preserved roofs. Not far finally, it is the Château de Montclard which awaits you: overlooking the Caudeau valley, this very old castle seems to date from the end of the 15th century. It was torn down during the French Revolution and only retains a high rectangular tower from its original building, as well as vestiges that bear witness to its original size. With its beautifully crafted balconies, towers and beautiful stones, it gives the town a certain elegance that blends marvellously with the gentle atmosphere of the surrounding countryside. The village chapel, the church of the hamlet of Saint-Georges, not forgetting the fountain and the 13th century market hall will complete the inventory of sites not to be missed during your visit to Saint-Georges-de-Montclard.

There are many itineraries that will take you to Villamblard, Issac, Monbazillac (18 kilometres to the south), the Château de Lanquais (13 kilometres away), or even Bergerac. Bergerac and the shadow of its famous Cyrano will undoubtedly be an enchanting parenthesis during your holidays in the Dordogne.
