In the Dordogne department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel is a very, very good idea for a destination for those who love authenticity, history and old stones. A few steps away from Sarlat-la-Canéda, this family destination with a touch of romance has what it takes to make many hearts fall in love.

A rural and country town crossed by the Énéa river, Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel is one of those places that we love so much. In the heart of the Périgord Noir, in the classified valley of the Énéa, this quiet village spreads out between 80 and 247 meters of altitude, a few steps away from the meanders of the Dordogne. What characterizes Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel is its heritage. Rich and very old, it will transport you to the heart of History, with a "big H". To see? The Romanesque church of the XIIth century of course, which is distinguished by its magnificent bell tower-wall and its wooden altarpiece representing the figures of Saint-Vincent and Saint-Barthélemy. Not far away, the ruins of the manor of Saint-Vincent are to be seen: built in place of a 13th century castle, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful buildings of the commune of Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel. But the village is also known for its dry-stone huts, centuries-old traditional dwellings emblematic of the Perigord heritage! Finally, if there is a star here, it is the Château de Paluel: a 15th century building classified as a historical monument, this former property of the Prince of Cröy was burned by the Germans in 1944 before being left in ruins and then renovated in 2011.

But Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel is also appreciated for the peace that reigns there, as well as for its preserved natural landscape. We recommend you, on foot or by mountain bike, to walk around the pond of La Brame, as well as on the banks of the Enea river to enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. A peace only disturbed by the fishermen who come to take advantage of the fishy waters of the river to catch some fish.

Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel is the perfect destination for a green hike and is also the ideal place to stay with your family, thanks to the wide range of activities available to vacationers. To see? The Forest of the Squirrels, or the Zoological Reserve of Calviac, two visits that should delight both young and old! Don't miss Sarlat-la-Canéda, the beach of Groléjac ideal for lazing and swimming, but also the castles of Rouffillac and Fénelon, as well as the Castle of Monfort on the Dordogne!
