On the Côte des Légendes, in the department of Finistère, Brignogan-Plages is one of those authentic little seaside resorts that only Brittany has the secret. Bathed in turquoise water, bordered by rocks, this 100% Breton destination seems to have all the cards in hand to offer its visitors a change of scenery.

Today merged with Plounéour-Trez to form the new commune of Plounéour-Brignogan-Plages, Brignogan-Plages is multiplying invitations to come and discover its most beautiful faces. Along the English Channel, this land of tradition has a unique coastline, drawn by huge stones with strange shapes sometimes even poetic, now characteristic of its landscape. These granite rocks have become over time the signature of Brignogan-Plages, attracting every year many visitors curious to discover these rocks conducive to the imagination, which reveal here an elephant, there a camel, or a toad, all these stones imbued with the legends of the Pays Pagan. The best way to discover this beautiful corner of Brittany is to leave your car in the car park and prefer cycling or, better still, walking along its coast, which is criss-crossed by the GR34 path that runs the length of the region from side to side. Known for its jagged coastline that left little hope for merchant ships that came aground there, Brittany is known for being the country of plunderers. This is why its coastline is lined with numerous guard posts along what some people today call the Sentier des Douaniers (Customs Trail). If there is one to be seen, it is the one in the hamlet of Ménéham. Tucked between two enormous granite blocks, this checkpoint, emblematic of the area, will offer you an incomparable view of the open sea from its windows. As is the nearby Pontusval lighthouse, which watches over the Finistère coastline from its 18.3 metres high, and its 56 steps to climb. If you don't want to visit it, it offers from its foot breathtaking panoramas of the sea and the rocks of the Pointe de Pontusval, a spot often described as a "photographer's paradise" (and we can tell you from experience: the visit is well worth the detour, by day or at sunset!). Another piece of advice if you like views worthy of the most beautiful postcards, the little Pol chapel from 1870 is also worth the detour: in the heart of a somewhat chaotic granite heap, not far from the lighthouse, it offers incomparable shows to its lucky visitors.

After having crawled through the dunes and rocks, what could be better than a short break with your feet in the water? The seaside resort of Brignogan-Plages has a whole arsenal of beaches, each one more beautiful than the next. From Lividig beach to the lighthouse beach, via Pors Paol, the Toad, Blue Thistle and Bilou beaches, the magnificence of this unique destination will be offered to you. If the bay reveals itself largely at low tide to become a small paradise for fishing enthusiasts on foot, it is also a small paradise for fans of idleness, swimming, scuba diving thanks to the purity of the water bordering Brignogan-Plages, surfing, sailing, paddle ... So many water activities that will delight young and old alike. Finally, if you prefer water sports to those on land, then tennis, mountain biking, mini-golf, archery, horse riding and hiking will complete your stay in Brittany.
