Facing the sea, west of the Crozon Peninsula, Camaret-sur-Mer is certainly one of the most beautiful destinations of the Armorique Regional Natural Park. A maritime city with a strong identity, wet by the magnificent waters of the Atlantic Ocean, this land of history is undeniably marked by the Middle Ages. Fortified by Vauban during the 17th century, this former lobster port has been inviting visitors to discover its many faces. Start your visit on the side of the Vauban Tower: emblem of the city, this defensive tower located in the port is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take advantage of this escapade in the port to discover the Toulinguet lighthouse and the Notre-Dame-de-Rocamadour chapel, before heading back to the heart of the city. Some sites are worth a visit, such as the batterie du Grand Gouin, the batterie du Toulinguet, the ruins of the Coecilian manor house, or the famous Pen-Hir cross, a monument to the Bretons of Free France, inaugurated by Charles de Gaulle in 1951. To see the fortifications of Camaret-sur-Mer, towards the site of Kerbonn, between the points of Toulinguet and Pen-Hir: see there beautiful military walls of the 19th century, the memorial of the Battle of the Atlantic as well as casemates from the Second World War. Camaret-sur-Mer is also an artistic destination, loved by painters in particular: around Place Saint-Thomas, you can find many art galleries as well as beautiful houses with colourful and painted facades.

A visit to Brittany would not be complete without seeing menhirs or dolmens! In Camaret-sur-Mer, we guarantee you that there is plenty to do in this area. On foot or by bike, follow the road towards the splendid Pointe de Pen-Hir to discover the megalithic alignment of Lagatjar and its 65 menhirs facing the sea. From there, the panoramas are breathtaking over the entire bay of Douarnenez and the Tas de Pois below. These rocks, often beaten by the waves, are known as "Petit Dahouet", "Grand Dahouet", "Penn-Glaz", "Chelott", "Ar Forc'h" and "Ben-Id". Emblematic of Camaret-sur-Mer, this site with its bewitching beauty is certainly the most photographed of the entire peninsula. When it comes to hiking, if we were to recommend only one itinerary, it would certainly be the GR34. Along the entire Breton coast from side to side, it will allow you to glimpse the most beautiful landscapes that Camaret-sur-Mer has to offer, especially on the Cap de la Chèvre and Anse de Porz-Creguen sides.

Finally, if you come to Camaret-sur-Mer, it is also for its beaches, each one more beautiful than the next. In all, more than 25 kilometres of unspoilt coastline borders the seaside resort, dotted with coves, cliffs and beaches that are sometimes family-friendly and sometimes intimate. From Trez Rouz beach to Kerloc'h beach, Pen Hat beach, Lamzoz beach, Véryac'h beach, Notinau beach and Correjou beach, there is a wide choice to suit your needs. In addition to offering real postcard scenery, these beaches will be ideal for sailing, catamaran, surfing, dinghy, wave-skiing, kayaking or scuba diving.
