Arcachon and its famous Bassin, here is a perfect destination for lovers of seaside holidays. As one of the largest seaside resorts on the Atlantic coast, the city of Arcachon is located on the edge of a protected coastline, highly appreciated by holidaymakers. Alone, with family or friends, Arcachon is an ideal holiday destination: known for its quality of life, pleasant climate, festivities and dynamism, the city is a peaceful bubble with omnipresent nature, with its pine forests, fine sand beaches and dream villas.

Start your stay with a visit to the city: divided into four districts, alternately called "spring city", "summer city", "autumn city" and "winter city", Arcachon offers a multitude of different panoramas. Linger in the "winter city" where you can observe superb wealthy villas nestled on the heights of the city. Some villas with a strong identity are even classified as historical monuments, such as Villa Faust and Villa Toledo, located not far from the Moorish Park overlooking Arcachon.

After visiting the city, don't forget to put your towel on one of the beaches of Arcachon. In all, 7 kilometres of fine sandy beaches are available for you to relax and enjoy. The Downtown Beach, along the Seafront, is the starting point for many boat trips to Bird Island and the Missed Cabins. Fans of swimming, water sports and idleness will certainly head for the beach of Les Arbousiers and Les Abatilles, a popular spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing enthusiasts. Finally, as a family, Pereire Beach will prove to be ideal: this pretty, calm and quiet beach offers a magnificent view of Cap Ferret. You will find a cycle path, a skate park, children's games and a pretty green walk marked by maritime pines: the place is ideal for a romantic stroll, in a cocoon of sweetness and serenity.

Lovers of outdoor activities, know that Arcachon and its basin, located in an exceptional natural area between the Atlantic Ocean and the Landes forest, offer many activities for holidaymakers. On the land side, tennis, golf, cycling, horse riding, climbing, but also petanque and horse riding will be on the agenda. On the sea side, you can try your hand at beach volleyball, catamaran, boat or paddle. Fans of extreme sports can even discover Arcachon from the air, during a paragliding flight over the basin!

Finally, for an authentic visit in the heart of a relaxing resort, why not stop by an oyster farmer for an oyster tasting? In Arcachon, the cuisine is generous and traditional, between land and sea. Also, foie gras, fish, local wines and seafood will delight gourmets!

This year was a bit special (covid), the public outings were more limited but in each shop and with each shopkeeper, the same pleasant welcome. Even if it must be acknowledged, customers were not always as courteous and respectful of the environment.

Restaurant "Le Bouchon du Marché": very good brasserie cuisine. Boat trip around the Bassin d'Arcachon: Île aux Oiseaux, oyster beds, very good comments.

We recommend the Cabane des Jaud in Gujan Mestras for an oyster and shellfish meal facing the pool in a superb friendly environment.
