Renowned seaside resort nestled between sea and mountain, meadows and rivers, Deshaies is, it can be said, a must for anyone wishing to visit Guadeloupe. Proud to have on its territory the largest beach in the whole of Guadeloupe, the town is a small paradise for family holidays under the Caribbean sun.

A true wonder for the eyes, Deshaies is, definitely, the perfect place to put down your suitcases for a holiday to discover the splendours of Guadeloupe. And it is not for nothing that many famous personalities such as Laurent Bonnet, Robert Charlebois or Coluche have one day stayed here. On the west coast of the Basse-Terre island, Deshaies is authentic Guadeloupe, with its postcard-like appearance, its old fishing boats in colourful colours, its seaside dwellings, its dense vegetation and its dream beaches. Here, the Creole houses and the small white church with a small red roof plunge you in no time into the atmosphere of the village. Also, take the time to stroll around its small fishing port, where you can have lunch with a breathtaking view of the sea. With a territory of 32 square kilometres, culminating at an altitude of 758 metres, the municipality offers its visitors many hiking routes and endless ideas for visits. Moreover, if it is a must in terms of visits, it is the Botanical Garden of Deshaies. With its plantations of delicious essences, this vast 7-hectare park will lead you to the discovery of magnificent varieties of island flowers and plants, each more fragrant and colourful than the next. Hibiscus, orchids, porcelain rose, red ginger and other bougainvilleas covered with exotic birds will delight all your senses.

After having taken the time to visit the town and to climb up the side of Morne Mazeau, or to go to the viewpoint of Gadet flowered with laurels, we advise you to get good trainers and to take the coastal path in order to admire all the beaches of Deshaies. The beaches of La Perle near Pointe Rifflet, Petite Anse, or Fort-Royal are worth the detour, but if you had to choose just one, one and only one, it would undoubtedly be Grande Anse. Spread out over more than 2 kilometres, the one with its golden sand that makes its neighbours pale in colour is a real little corner of paradise. Bordered by palm, coconut and grape trees, it is perfect for lazing around in the sun, sunbathing, sunbathing and quiet reading, but will also delight water sports enthusiasts. In addition to swimming in the damnable turquoise water, yachtsmen are numerous, as are lovers of regattas, sailing, paddleboats, cruises along the coast or even scuba diving. So many activities that will undoubtedly perfect your stay in Guadeloupe!
