It is in the heart of the Marana plain, about fifteen kilometres south of Bastia, that the small village of Borgo thrives. Proudly perched on its rocky promontory at an altitude of 300 metres facing the sea, the old village of Borgo is a delight for lovers of calm and old stones, while the lido of La Marana, the true green lung of the municipality, will seduce those who love sports and idyllic activities.

Lovers of nature and outdoor activities? Borgo is the ideal place to pack your bags for a stay on the theme of discovery. Rich in contrasts, the city of Borgo is a real destination between land and sea, offering multiple faces according to the seasons. From its scrubland to its beaches, passing by its ponds, its mountains and its wide open sea, Borgo seduces above all for its setting, its beauty and its sweetness of life. First of all, its old town is worth a visit. With its old schist houses full of charm typical of the region's architecture, old Borgo dominates the sea and offers incomparable panoramic views of the islands of Elba and Montecristo. In addition to being an undeniable observation post, this perched village has some beautiful buildings, such as the church of the Annunciation, a 17th century building built in a Gothic style. Not far from there, you can also discover the remains of the bell tower of Saint-Appiano: famous for its two bronze bells classified as Historic Monuments, this place overlooking the village will also offer you very beautiful landscapes on the neighbouring plains and the sea.

But if Borgo is so popular with tourists, it is above all for its many natural assets, such as its magnificent Biguglia pond. Also called Chiurlinu pond, this lagoon is a real treasure rich in biodiversity. With its reed beds and large lake, this protected pond, a true bird paradise, is home to many rare animal and plant species that you can discover during walks around the lake. If you can't swim there, you can fish there and enjoy a picnic with your family.

In the dune cordon of the Biguglia pond, the wild "Plage des Marines" stretches as far as the eye can see and offers its visitors very beautiful panoramas of the Bay of Bastia and its mountains. In its extension, the "Beach of the Lido de la Marana" extends from the middle of the dunes against the backdrop of the magnificent Biguglia pond. If you like water sports, then the Marana water sports centre will allow you (whatever your level) to practice a wide range of water sports, from sea kayaking to catamarans and windsurfing. A little further up towards Bastia, only 5 minutes from Borgo in the town of Biguglia, the "Bastiajet" club will allow you to rent pedal boats, but also to go kayaking, towed buoys, paddles, and you can also learn about jet skiing in the open sea, or even parachuting if you like adrenaline rides! The "Club Nautique Bastiais" will delight fans of wind surfing, dinghy, catamaran, optimist and giant paddle.

In general, the Bastia region and the many surrounding villages are dotted with many hiking trails and itineraries that will allow you to practice many outdoor activities, without moderation, from walking to horse riding, not to mention cycling excursions. Experienced walkers will not be able to miss the "Cime de Stella" hike, and families will be able to venture out on the trail along the Lido road: absolutely magnificent, we advise you to take it for a quiet walk, at sunrise or sunset to enjoy the calm and soft colors of the sky reflected in the sea. If you like thrill-seeking activities, then you will also have the opportunity to discover many whitewater activities such as canyoning (Bastia and Bavella canyoning) and water hiking during this stay. Finally, the Lido de la Marana is also famous for making the happiness of equestrian aficionados, who come in groups to ride on horse or ponyback for the youngest riders: a fun activity that we highly recommend you do with your family for guaranteed memories!
